Faktor Penentu Keberhasilan Kepala Sekolah, Syarwani Ahmad

Jurnal Penelitian dan Evaluasi Pendidikan

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kepe-mimpinan, pengetahuan manajemen, ketahanmalangan, dan buda-ya organisasi terhadap prestasi kerja Kepala Sekolah Dasar di kota Palembang. Penelitian menggunakan metode survei dengan pen-dekatan kausalitas. Sampel penelitian 115 Kepala Sekolah Dasar dan diambil secara random. Analisis data menggunakan path analysis untuk menguji pengaruh langsung atau tidak langsung antar-variabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variabel ketahan-malangan lebih besar pengaruhnya terhadap prestasi kerja melalui ke-pemimpinan kepala sekolah, yakni sebesar 37,69%, pengaruh langsung kepemimpinan terhadap prestasi kerja kepala sekolah sebesar 30,91%. In order to raise awareness about positive images of Black educators, administrators and staff in higher education, the researchers used photography and oral narratives from 11 employees at The City University of New York, York College. Data were analyzed using content analysis. The significant themes found were: (a) Mentor, (b) Leader, and (c) Educator—with the latter emerging as the most frequently identified theme among participants. Gender And Corporate Sustainability: On Values, Vision, And Voice, Joan L. Slepian, Gwen E. Jones

This article presents an exploratory empirical study of the role of gender in sustainability initiatives and practices in a sample of 925 men and women from American companies. We explore gender differences and their implications for sustainability values, priorities, and perceptions of sustainability-related activities in the workplace. Drawing from studies of sustainability, gender, and environmental values and action, our study finds that corporate women hold sustainability-related concerns and values to be significantly more important to them personally than do their male colleagues, and they view and evaluate their companies’ sustainability-related value priorities, initiatives, and activities from these foundational ethical and …

Perceptions Of Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassadors On Career Development, Higher Education, And Leadership Development, William F. Zanolini, John Rayfield, Jeff Ripley

Selected 4-H youth participated in the Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador program. Forty-five youth participated in the 3-day program delivered by university professors and staff, Texas AgriLife Extension faculty and industry representatives. An instrument was developed and administered to the Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassadors at the end of their first year of service to evaluate their perceptions regarding the perceived impacts the program had on: 1) career goals, 2) higher education opportunities, and 3) leadership development. The students perceived the Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador Program increased their understanding of career development, higher education, and leadership development.

Leadership: Perspectives From Deaf Leaders And Interpreter Leaders, Marty M. Taylor

International Journal of Interpreter Education

This article examines leadership from the perspectives of 50 deaf leaders and interpreter leaders from Canada and the United States. This qualitative research study contributes to knowledge about what leaders value and what are important leadership practices to each group of leaders. Data were collected through individual interviews using semistructured open-ended questions. Twenty most frequent themes were identified in the interview data. The values of respect and communication were strongly related among and within the two groups. Love That Tames: Anti-Heroes, Power And Islamic Reform Reflected In Two Iranian Films, David Sander

This paper is an exploration of two Iranian films that draw upon spiritual, artistic and literary roots in Islamic history, while at the same time engaging in critiques of knowledge and power in contemporary Muslim societies. These films offer a chance to explore ways in which culture (as distinct from theological discourse) deals with problems of reform in Muslim societies. This article juxtaposes the films with the trickster archetype in folklore, Sufi thought about leadership, and beliefs about the figure of the Mahdi (“the guided one” mentioned in Prophetic hadith as preceding the second coming of Jesus).

Although urban and suburban school superintendents serve the largest group of students in terms of sheer numbers of schoolchildren, there are actually more superintendents serving in rural school districts in the United States. I examined the expected roles or “hats” of the rural superintendent by collecting data from several districts located in NE Colorado. Interviews of school board members and superintendents provided data, which suggested that the expected roles of a rural superintendent are multiple and varied. One of the original microfinance institutions (MFIs) is Grameen Bank in Bangladesh and the founder of the bank is Muhammad Yunus (2007). Yunus (2007) initiated a discourse that stated that microloans granted to women resulted in, among other things, increased female empowerment. Although many of the pressures leaders face come from external sources, the expertise of the faculty should not be ignored when preparing community college leaders. The current study analyzed survey data from community college faculty across the state of Kentucky to determine which attributes they considered important to academic leadership. The faculty members who responded to an online survey regarded most highly factors pertaining to communication, character, decision-making, teamwork, work ethic, and personal relationships.

The research reported here is extracted from a larger study aimed at describing the challenges and barriers to implementing the two way immersion (TWI) program at Stark Elementary School (a pseudonym).
