The present communication deals with morpho-anatomical characters of leaf, stem and root of Alternanthera sesilis and Alternanthera pungens and its signifinace in identification and differentiation of raw drug originated from these species. The plant characters of diagnostic importance are for example colour of stem is green in Alternanthera sesilis and brown in Alternanthera pungens; flower of Alternanthera sesilis possess three stamens while Alternanthera pungens possess five stamens. The study will be useful in confirming the authenticity of raw drug and also serve as a reference for advanced studies of these two such closely related species.

Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
Objective:Primary objective was to assess the feasibility for a further definite study to compare the effectiveness of LM-vs-CM homoeopathic potencies in reducing pain due to cervical spondylosis. Method:A multi center prospective randomized clinical pilot study was conducted by Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy at its three centers during June 2009 - June 2010. Out of 148 patients screened, 56 patients were enrolled and randomized as per the pre-set inclusion criteria. However 54 patients, LM group (n=28) and CM group (n=26) were analyzed. Pain was assessed using visual analog scale. The primary end point for pain from 1 to 60 …

A Multicentric, Double-Blind Randomized, Homoeopathic Pathogenetic Trial Of Caesalpinia Bonducella, Rajpal Rajpal, Vinay Singh, V Siddiqui, C Nayak, A Majumdar, P Chandra, J Singh, S Pathak, G Rakshit
Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
Objective:To elicit the pathogenetic response of Caesalpinia bonducella in homoeopathic potencies on healthy human volunteers. Methodology:The drug Caesalpinia bonducella was proved by the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) through randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design. The proving was conducted at three centres. The drug was proved in 6 & 30 centesimal potencies on 50 apparently healthy volunteers, declared eligible after their pre-trial medical examinations by the medical specialists and routine laboratory investigations. In first phase of proving, provers were given 56 doses of placebo divided in 04 doses per day for 14 days. In next two phases, 56 doses of …

Objective:To elicit the pathogenetic response of Buxus sempervirens Linn. in homoeopathic potencies on healthy human volunteers. Methodology: Buxus sempervirens drug was proved by the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) through randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled method. The proving was conducted at three centres during 2007-08. The drug was proved in 6 & 30 centesimal potencies on 57 apparently healthy volunteers, declared eligible after their pre-trial medical examination by the medical specialists and routine laboratory investigations. In its first phase of proving, volunteers were given 56 doses of placebo divided in 4 doses per day for 14 days. In the next …
Homoeopathic Medicines In The Management Of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: A Multicentric Prospective Observational Study, Praveen Oberai, Varanasi Roja, D Ramesh, D Arya, G Reddy, S Sharma, Chaturbhuja Nayak, Vikram Singh, Hari Singh
Homoeopathic Medicines In The Management Of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: A Multicentric Prospective Observational Study, Praveen Oberai, Varanasi Roja, D Ramesh, D Arya, G Reddy, S Sharma, Chaturbhuja Nayak, Vikram Singh, Hari Singh
Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
Objectives:The primary objective of this study was to determine the therapeutic usefulness of a group of predefined trial medicines in benign prostatic hyperplasia. The secondary objective was to check the progression of disease by evaluating changes in prostate volume (PV), post-void residual urine (PVRU) and peak urine flow rates (Qmax and Qavg in ml/sec). Methods:In a multi-centric observational study, 231 patients suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) having prostate volume > 20 mL and prostate specific antigen (PSA) ≤ 4 ng/mL were enrolled at 5 Institutes/Units under Central Council for Research in Homeopathy (CCRH). Symptoms were analyzed using the American Urological …

An Evidence Based Case Study Of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, Girish Gupta, Santosh Singh
Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) has been the most frequent reason for elderly men undergoing surgery. BPH symptoms range from least voiding difficulties to urinary retention and renal failure. In this case of BPH, subjective measures such as changes in International Prostatic Symptom Score / American Urological Association Assessment (IPSS/AUA), and objective measures such as changes in prostate size and urinary flow rate were assessed, as the successful management and treatment of BPH should seek both to improve symptoms and prevent disease progression. The case was treated with Lycopodium, a homoeopathic medicine reported here. This case shows the efficacy of medicine …
Homeopathy Emerging As Nanomedicine, Rajendra Upadhyay, Chaturbhuja Nayak
Homeopathy Emerging As Nanomedicine, Rajendra Upadhyay, Chaturbhuja Nayak
Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
Background:Homeopathy is a time-tested two-century old empirical system of healing. Homeopathic medicines are prepared through a characteristic process known as potentization, where serial dilutions are performed with strong strokes at each step of dilution. Homeopathy is controversial because most medicines do not contain one single molecule of the corresponding starting-substance. Aim:To investigate a possible nanoscience mechanism of action of homeopathic medicines. Methodology: Ultra-pure samples were prepared and were examined under scanning (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) along with selected area nanodiffraction (SAD) and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). Also trace element analysis (TEA) for silicon was performed. Results:Homeopathic medicines showed …

Homeopathic Pathogenetic Trial Of Plumbum Metallicum: The Complete 2000 Trial With A Synthesis Of The Original 1828 Trial, Andrea Signorini, Christa Pichler
Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
Background: in a previous paper we reported the statistical analysis and other distribution data of a homeopathic pathogenetic trial (HPT) of Plumbum metallicum 30cH carried out by our group. However, at that time we did not report the resulting pure materia medica, i.e., the totality of symptoms elicited by the tested medicine on healthy volunteers. Aim: to communicate to the homeopathic community the full record of symptoms collected in our HPT of Plb. Methods: methods to collect and select symptoms have been reported in the previous paper. In synthesis were excluded all previous common symptoms of volunteers, even with slight …
Flu Pandemics: Homeopathic Prophylaxis And Definition Of The Epidemic Genius, Renan Marino
Flu Pandemics: Homeopathic Prophylaxis And Definition Of The Epidemic Genius, Renan Marino
Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
Recent studies on viral genetics establish swine-H1N1 - responsible for the ongoing pandemics - as a remainder or continuation of the agent causing the flu epidemics of 1918. This study aimed at analyzing whether this common etiology also result in significant correlations of clinical manifestations. To do so, data were collected to compare the clinical evolution of cases in the 1918 and 2009 epidemics. This historical revision was the ground for evaluating the response to treatment including homeopathy in the former epidemics. It is discussed the convenience of including homeopathic prophylaxis grounded on the diagnosis of the epidemic genius among …
