International Congress on Environmental Modelling and Software
More than 250 submerged archaeological sites were identified in the Lagoon of Venice, which account for an historic and artistic heritage of extraordinary value. These sites are endangered by several environmental and human factors: erosion, chemical pollution, organisms (mainly wood borers), motor-boat traffic, fishery activities, and robbers. A Decision Support System (DSS), named ArcheoRisk, was developed to include the safeguarding of archaeological sites within the environmental management of the Venice lagoon and to select most effective safeguarding/rehabilitation interventions, whenever needed. The Future Of Municipal Fisheries In The Philippines: Does The Philippine Fisheries Code Do Enough?, Devon Shannon
The Future Of Municipal Fisheries In The Philippines: Does The Philippine Fisheries Code Do Enough?, Devon Shannon
Washington International Law Journal
The allocation of fishery resources is a critical concern for the Philippines municipal fishing sector where the global problem of overfishing has taken its toll on near-shore aquatic life. The dependency of coastal Filipino communities on fishery resources for nutrition and livelihood necessitates an analysis of the 1998 Philippine Fisheries Code's ("PFC's") ability to facilitate effective marine resource allocation at the municipal level. ASEAN was founded with the 1967 Bangkok Declaration in order to encourage stable relations among its original member states, i.e. Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines, and to resist destabilizing influences from the war in Viet Nam. The means to stability was to promote economic, social and cultural cooperation in the spirit of equality and partnership. A formal treaty system was not required. As the Viet Nam war ended, ASEAN held its first Summit Meeting in Bali (1976), followed by the 1977 Summit in Kuala Lumpur, where cooperation on regional industrializations was launched. In this first phase of cooperation, …

The following report on the status of US Caribbean coral reef ecosystems has been summarised from more extensive reports submitted to the US Coral Reef Task Force (USCRTF) working group that implemented in 2000 ‘A National Program to Assess, Inventory, and Monitor US Coral Reef Ecosystems’. The more-lengthy reports are also the basis for the biennial-issued document, ‘Status and Trends of US Coral Reef Ecosystems’. Each author is a recognised technical expert with responsibility for monitoring and/or managing aspects of their respective coral reef ecosystems.
