Privacy-Preserving Arbitrary Geometric Range Query In Mobile Internet Of Vehicles, Yinbin Miao, Lin Song, Xinghua Li, Hongwei Li, Kim-Kwang Raymond Choo, Robert H. Deng

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

The mobile Internet of Vehicles (IoVs) has great potential for intelligent transportation, and creates spatial data query demands to realize the value of data. Outsourcing spatial data to a cloud server eliminates the need for local computation and storage, but it leads to data security and privacy threats caused by untrusted third-parties. Existing privacy-preserving spatial range query solutions based on Homomorphic Encryption (HE) have been developed to increase security. However, in the single server model, the private key is held by the query user, which incurs high computation and communication burdens on query users due to multiple rounds of interactions. …

For the past several decades, information communication technologies (ICTs) have been changing the way we create, share, and keep our records and data. How are we adapting? Today, individuals and organizations are increasingly creating, sharing, and storing information of all kinds in the cloud, some of them with the same expectations of privacy, access, intellectual rights, and control they have when storing it in in-house systems, either digital or analog. Such expectations provoke outrage when it is discovered that behavior in the cloud is not guided by long-established ethical rules guiding information creation, sharing, and use, but needs to be …

Over the last few years, identity-based cryptosystem (IBC) has attracted widespread attention because it avoids the high overheads associated with public key certificate management. However, an unsolved but critical issue about IBC is how to revoke a misbehaving user. There are some revocable identity-based encryption schemes that have been proposed recently, but little work on the revocation problem of identity-based signature has been undertaken so far. One approach for revocation in identity-based settings is to update users' private keys periodically, which is usually done by the key generation center (KGC). But with this approach, the load on the KGC will …

Communication Or Piracy? Library Values, Copyright, And Cloud Computing, Justin White

University Library Publications and Presentations

Advances in computing in the twenty-first century has shifted the late twentieth century model of computers that act as independent processing machines, back to the more archaic model of terminals that have processing done by a larger, centralized network. This shift has come about because of the growth of Cloud computing, which, for this chapter, will be defined as a model of computing as infrastructure. Whether the drive to Cloud solutions was driven by the limited resources of mobile devices, or the need to collectively share and store data across multiple platforms, or even a desire to offload software itself …
