Automated Analysis Of Comments On Press Articles In Websites (Articles Literature As Case Study), Afra Abdulrahman, Abdul Monem Rahma
Engineering and Technology Journal
Due to the increasing electronic publishing sites for printed and certified newspapers, the reader faced the problem of reaching his goal by accessing these sites, which led to the neglect of a large section of important publications. The provision of an automated measure to verify the positive and negative articles based on the analysis of readers' comments on the articles is a necessity to see the important articles that are compatible with the corpus generated by us for inference. The project achieved the previous target and achieved a success rate. The Bag-of-Words Model (BoW) was used to obtain the repetition …

American Public Opinion And Media Representations Of The Crimean War (1853–1856), Anurag Shah
American Public Opinion And Media Representations Of The Crimean War (1853–1856), Anurag Shah
The Journal of Purdue Undergraduate Research
During the Crimean War (1853–1856), France and Britain sided with the Ottoman Empire to curb Russian expansion. Though an ocean away, the American public was not only aware of this conflict but often held strong opinions on the war and its participants. American media representations of the Crimean War are indicative of this, and a systematic examination reveals some significant trends in reporting, aligning closely to and providing nuance for larger trends in American history.
The most significant trend in newspaper reporting of the Crimean War was a North-South geographical divide. Northern states supported Britain and France throughout the conflict, …

Framing An Adversary: Ethnic Nationalism In The First Khmer Newspaper, Ian Lowman
Framing An Adversary: Ethnic Nationalism In The First Khmer Newspaper, Ian Lowman
The Thetean: A Student Journal for Scholarly Historical Writing
The study of nationalism examines both global patterns and the singleness of local response. In most fledgling nation-states, the modern phenomena of print and western capitalism transformed indifferent individuals into a politicized public. Printing houses profitably publicized and glorified vernaculars while propagating European ideas of state borders, national cultures, and patriotism. By employing this medium, nationalists toyed with ideologies specific to the concerns of their community; French nationalism thrived on an abstract battle against tyranny while Algerians couched their nationality in the struggle for freedom from France. Each nation's self-conception reflected a search for an ideal of commonality and a …

Effects Of The Black Lives Matter Movement On Media Portrayals Of Accused Criminals, Samantha Strine
Effects Of The Black Lives Matter Movement On Media Portrayals Of Accused Criminals, Samantha Strine
Legacy Theses & Dissertations (2009 - 2024)
Media impacts our everyday lives and shapes how we understand the world around us. It assists in creating social hierarchies which impact how groups of people are represented and understood. These hierarchies have led to the generation of stereotypes and disparate reporting practices in media. However, social movements tend to be created to provide evidence against these stereotypes and the movements attempt to undo disparate treatment of marginalized groups. This study had three hypotheses: Hypothesis 1 stated that prior to the generation of the Black Lives Movement, media depictions of black and white accused criminals will differ. Hypothesis 2 stated …
