Humanitarian crises expose women and girls to heightened risk of unintended pregnancy due to increased risk of sexual violence as well as disruption in access to and provision of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services. Unintended pregnancies in turn result in unplanned births and, in contexts with restrictive abortion laws, maternal morbidity and mortality due to unsafe abortion or miscarriage. This makes innovative, evidence-informed solutions to address unintended pregnancy that take into account the unique circumstances of women and girls in humanitarian settings critical. Evidence-informed solutions should consider how best to reach women and girls with SRHR services …

Open Educational Resources
This is an Open Educational Resources (OER) syllabus for ENG 2100 - Writing 1 - Writing as Being. In this course, students will examine how their identities and communities shape their understanding of themselves and the world around them—how it affects the way they move and think in the spaces they occupy. Through the usage of personal narrative and critical writing, the students will study how language, culture, community, and socio-historical contexts influence their ways of knowing and being. Then, they will utilize these influences—the very systems that affect them in tremendous ways—to write themselves into being. All course materials, …

Linking Research To Action To Address Unintended Pregnancy In Refugee Settings In Ethiopia, Baobab Research Programme Consortium
Humanitarian Task Force
Humanitarian crises expose women and girls to the risk of unintended pregnancy due to disruptions in access to and provision of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. Evidence available to support and shape improved family planning programming in refugee settings is sparse, and little is known about how to effectively deliver such programming to the most vulnerable, including women and girls. The Baobab Research Programme Consortium (RPC) is exploring how access to SRHR services can be expanded using existing, low-cost approaches, and how such approaches be communicated and scaled up in refugee settings. We propose harnessing existing food distribution and …

Humanitarian Task Force
The Government of Ethiopia’s Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS) officials, various government ministry delegates, representatives from International and national Non-Governmental Organisations, UN bodies, and various delivery partners, came together for a Data to Action (D2A) workshop in Addis Ababa from November 19th to 21st, 2024. During this workshop, participants prioritized violence prevention and response activities, directly informed by the HVACS data. This was achieved by translating the Ethiopia HVACS findings into key indicators that were then mapped into actionable next steps by linking this data to the INSPIRE: Seven Strategies for Ending Violence Against Children technical package and the Child …
