Exposures to particulate dust matter (PM10 and smaller) from aggregate comminution facilities (ACF) can lead to the onset of environmentally associated pulmonary diseases (EAPDs); acute and chronic asthma (Type I allergic hypersensitivity reaction), chronic pulmonary disease, interstitial lung disease (ILD), and lung cancer. In this environmental epidemiological research study, three primary spatial and spatiotemporal research questions related to nonoccupational exposures from 118 facilities across Georgia were evaluated. Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health problem, particularly among individuals with diabetes mellitus (DM), who are at an increased risk of developing TB disease. Screening activities conducted through health facility-based screening and active case finding (ACF) provide opportunities to identify TB cases with DM comorbidity. This study aimed to describe the epidemiological characteristics of TB-DM cases identified through screening activities in Indonesia in 2024. This descriptive study used routine secondary program data obtained from the Tuberculosis Information System (SITB). Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is only available in specialized medical centers. We conducted a geospatial analysis and found state- and region-level variation in the supply of ECMO centers, and the number of children who had access to ECMO. These findings may help target areas for the development of new ECMO programs.

This course will ensure pharmacists are competent in the operations involved in volunteering or working within a charitable pharmacy.

Additionally, the information provided supports pharmacists in understanding their roles as well as roles of volunteers. They will understand the importance of their role in the community and the depth of their service within Charity Pharmacies.

Background:

Socioeconomic deprivation and environmental heat exposure each increase cardiovascular risk, yet evidence is limited on how these stressors co-occur and jointly shape disease burden within cities. Mapping their overlap can inform equity-oriented planning and needs-based allocation of health and social protection resources.

Methods:

We conducted an ecological geospatial analysis of 2,513 census tracts in Los Angeles County. BACKGROUND AND AIM: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) can help children survive severe cardiac and/or respiratory failure, but it is only provided in specialized centers. There are disparities in access by ground transport to ECMO services, but it is unknown to what extent interfacility transfer systems can expand access. Additionally, the number of children who live in proximity to centers that perform extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) to be potential candidates in case of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is unknown. Groundwater is a critical resource in Illah, Delta State, where surface water is unreliable. This study aims to evaluate groundwater potential and aquifer properties using geoelectric methods, with a particular focus on Dar-Zarrouk parameters. Thirteen Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) surveys were conducted using the Schlumberger array. Derived parameters, including resistivity, thickness, and Dar-Zarrouk indices, were analysed to characterise the aquifers’ hydraulic properties. Four to five geoelectric layers underlie the study area. Aquifer resistivity ranged from 124–2499 Ω·m, thickness from 3.4–57.9 m, and transmissivity from 27.54–468.99 m²/day. Introduction: This state-level ecological repeated cross-sectional study examined sociodemographic differences in sepsis-related Medicare hospitalizations assigned to Medicare Severity Diagnosis-Related Groups (MS-DRGs) 871 and 872 in 2019 and 2022.

Objective: The study focused on three outcomes: changes in sepsis-related Medicare discharge volume, changes in average Medicare payment per sepsis discharge, and changes in the proportion of MS-DRG 871 discharges relative to MS-DRG 872 discharges.

Accelerating shoreline erosion, fluctuating lake levels, and climate-induced hazards are transforming the Great Lakes’ freshwater coasts, exposing the limitations of static and inequitable management frameworks. This dissertation investigates how Michigan’s coastal governance systems produce and manage vulnerability along the Lake Michigan shoreline by integrating geospatial modeling, institutional policy analysis, and environmental justice theory. It argues that both physical processes and institutional designs co-determine patterns of exposure, protection, and equity. The research begins by developing a refined Coastal Vulnerability Index (CVI) tailored for lacustrine environments, applying it to Muskegon County to assess how shoreline change, armoring, and seasonality influence localized risk. …
