Stronger Together: Boys Of New School And Costanoa, Analupita Ramirez-Cortes

Capstone Projects and Master's Theses

Monarch Services has been in Santa Cruz County since 1977, providing crucial support to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault through a range of programs, including crisis intervention, youth support, and emergency shelter. The organization serves approximately 1,500 survivors annually, with a strong focus on Latino communities and bilingual services. In 2023, the Children and Youth Program served 118 individuals, offering case management, safety planning, and counseling. This capstone project aims to bridge the gap in education about healthy relationships, focusing on teen boys at CostaNoa High School and New School Community Day High School. By implementing The Mask …

Constructing A Transformative Methodology Of Discipleship: A Qualitative Case Study Of The African Strategic Discipleship Movement (Asdm), Anne Sylvia Meredith Frey Sep 2024

Constructing A Transformative Methodology Of Discipleship: A Qualitative Case Study Of The African Strategic Discipleship Movement (Asdm), Anne Sylvia Meredith Frey

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The purpose of this study was to discover how discipleship can be transformative for the learners within the African Strategic Discipleship Movement (ASDM) training program currently being offered to Christian denominations located in 33 countries throughout Africa. The educational theory that guided this study was Bruner’s constructivism methodology of learning as it suggested a theoretical framework that could be integrated into the field of discipleship. The Central Research Question asked how the specific instructional methods and practices of discipleship presented by the African Strategic Discipleship Movement (ASDM) provide or not provide the participants with transformational results. Sub-research questions asked about …

Qualification Of 3d-Printed Titanium Volume-Optimized Propulsion Tanks For Small Satellites, Robert Fowler, Ryan Thibaudeau, Weston Allen, Twinkle Pandhi, Sid Raje, Matt Karesh, Stefka Petkova, Ryan Askew, Fernando Ferreira, Jake Schwartzman Aug 2024

Qualification Of 3d-Printed Titanium Volume-Optimized Propulsion Tanks For Small Satellites, Robert Fowler, Ryan Thibaudeau, Weston Allen, Twinkle Pandhi, Sid Raje, Matt Karesh, Stefka Petkova, Ryan Askew, Fernando Ferreira, Jake Schwartzman

Small Satellite Conference

The current state of the art for small satellite chemical propellant tanks is limited in design customization, is expensive, and is volumetrically inefficient within the cuboid volumes of small satellite buses. Space Dynamics Laboratory and Velo3D Inc. partnered to develop propulsion tank technology that solves these challenges using metal additive manufacturing (AM). We designed, analyzed, built, heat-treated, post-machined, precision cleaned, and qualification tested a titanium 6A14V volume-optimized 3D-printed propulsion tank with an integral printed propellant management device (PMD). They are rated for a maximum expected operating pressure of 400 psi. These tanks are 3D-printed in the desired cuboid mission geometries …

Amsat-Oscar-7: 50 Years In A Sun-Synchronous Orbit - And Still Counting - Confirmation Of The Long-Term Solar Gravity-Gradient Perturbation, Jan A. King, Karl Meinzer Aug 2024

Amsat-Oscar-7: 50 Years In A Sun-Synchronous Orbit - And Still Counting - Confirmation Of The Long-Term Solar Gravity-Gradient Perturbation, Jan A. King, Karl Meinzer

Small Satellite Conference

The first Delta launch vehicle to launch multiple secondary payloads was Δ-104. Carried, as the 2nd piggyback payload on that mission was an amateur radio Smallsat, AMSAT-OSCAR-7 (AO-7). The launch, on 15 November 1974, was to a 1460 km SSO. This spacecraft, as its name suggests, was the 7th in an on-going series of spacecraft operating in the Amateur Satellite Service. The amazing story associated with the mission of this small satellite is being reported elsewhere in these proceedings. While the particulars of this satellite's lifetime are exciting, we didn't particularly expect this "old bird's set of tricks …

Timothy Keller: Champion For The City: Keller's Philosophy Of Urban Contextualization, Michael W. Cunningham Jul 2024

Timothy Keller: Champion For The City: Keller's Philosophy Of Urban Contextualization, Michael W. Cunningham

Liberty Theological Review

Timothy Keller's 2023 passing serves as an occasion to consider his ministry legacy. His magnum opus, Center Church, encapsulated his philosophy of contextualization. This philosophy was rooted in a robust theology that informed and balanced missions, evangelism, and church planting. Keller's passion for city missions defied current ministry trends that favored suburbia and avoided urban contexts. His ministry conviction overcame cultural opposition and ministry bias and grew a thriving ministry in an unlikely ministry setting. Keller’s ministry captured the imagination of rising generations of pastors, missionaries, and ministry practitioners and provided the needed theological framework and training for successful …

Coherent Chiastic Oeuvre In The Unity Of Luke-Acts: Two Volumes Conjoined As A Single Book, John Matthew Powell Apr 2024

Coherent Chiastic Oeuvre In The Unity Of Luke-Acts: Two Volumes Conjoined As A Single Book, John Matthew Powell

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

A thorough examination of the life and works of Saint Luke has always been an interest and desire to survey, and because of his eruditeness, which produced two amazingly inspired books in the New Testament resulted in the reason behind this dissertation project. Another important thing for this research is animated from the perspective that Luke is the only gentile writer in the NT. It encourages the world that God placed gentiles on equal footing with Jews of the Old Testament era. Unlike the additional three inspired Gospel writers (i.e., Matthew, Mark, and John), Luke did not take it for …

The Hazard Prediction Problem, Mary E. Helander, Brendan Smith, Sylvia Charchut, Erika Swiatowy, Calvin Nau, Gregory Cavaretta, Timothy Schuler, Adam Schunk, Héctor Ortiz-Peña Jan 2024

The Hazard Prediction Problem, Mary E. Helander, Brendan Smith, Sylvia Charchut, Erika Swiatowy, Calvin Nau, Gregory Cavaretta, Timothy Schuler, Adam Schunk, Héctor Ortiz-Peña

Social Science - All Scholarship

This work formulates the hazard prediction problem while addressing the research question: Can machine learning create a model to automatically recognize patterns that correspond to hazard state conditions during a mission-critical operation? Supervised learning models were trained and tested on data observed from mission simulators, which allowed for safe observation of dynamic system states and undesirable casualty events. The prediction task was formulated as a binary classification problem, producing the probability of being in a hazard state at time t and providing situational awareness of a possible imminent loss. Several modeling architectures were investigated: neural networks, logistic regression, a support …
