“Putting The Arts In Their Place”: A Case For Map-Making In Art History, Marco Jalla
“Putting The Arts In Their Place”: A Case For Map-Making In Art History, Marco Jalla
Artl@s Bulletin
The use of cartography in art history is less than common. Because of its link to the old artistic geography (Kunstgeographie) once used to defend nationalist issues in Nazi Germany, it fell into disfavor until the 1960s and 1970s, when maps regained some attention from a new generation of art historians. Mapping arts indeed proves to be very useful to visualize and organize large dataset and to formulate new hypotheses, both as a descriptive and a prospective tool. The challenge we proposed to the authors was to use maps for questioning the territorial logics, the centers and peripheries of the …
Early Detection Of Fake News On Social Media, Yang Liu
Early Detection Of Fake News On Social Media, Yang Liu
Dissertations
The ever-increasing popularity and convenience of social media enable the rapid widespread of fake news, which can cause a series of negative impacts both on individuals and society. Early detection of fake news is essential to minimize its social harm. Existing machine learning approaches are incapable of detecting a fake news story soon after it starts to spread, because they require certain amounts of data to reach decent effectiveness which take time to accumulate. To solve this problem, this research first analyzes and finds that, on social media, the user characteristics of fake news spreaders distribute significantly differently from those …

PYTHAGORAS : Jurnal Matematika dan Pendidikan Matematika
Posing mathematics problem is perceived as one of the learning strategies to promote students' skills in mathematics problem-solving as well as one of the crucial competencies that should be mastered by prospective mathematics teachers. Some people argued that for prospective mathematics teachers, posing mathematics problem itself is as important as solving mathematics problem because when they become mathematics teachers, there exist necessity for them to pose mathematics problem as a means for assessing students' understanding or achievement. The aim of this article, therefore, was to focus on the investigation into the prospective mathematics teachers' ability in posing mathematics problems. Relevant …

This article presents the results of the observations about digital literacy that were studied philosophically through Gadamer's hermeneutic approach. The reason for using this approach is to achieve an understanding of how the subject and its history play a role in the digital literacy process, where ontologically, the content of information has been visualized into the digital world so that a philosophical understanding is needed in understanding the virtual reality. This research is included in the classification of qualitative research with an analysis with three stages, namely reducing data that is very general and broad in a more specific form, …

Langkah pembelajaran model NHT diantaranya: 1) siswa dibagi menjadi beberapa kelompok kecil, 2) setiap siswa mendapatkan nomor yang berbeda, 3) guru memberi tugas pada masing-masing kelompok, 4) siswa diminta menyelesaikan dan mendiskusikan jawaban bersama kelompok masing-masing, 5) guru memanggil salah satu nomor, kemudian siswa …
Late Anglo-Saxon Prayer In Practice: Before The Books Of Hours, Kate Thomas
Late Anglo-Saxon Prayer In Practice: Before The Books Of Hours, Kate Thomas
Richard Rawlinson Center Series
This monograph examines the practice of Anglo-Saxon prayer outside of the communal liturgy. With a particular emphasis on its practical aspects, it considers how small groups of prayers were elaborated into complex programs for personal devotion, resulting in the forerunners of the Special Offices. With examples being taken chiefly from major eleventh-century collections of prayers, liturgy, and medical remedies, the methodologies of Anglo-Saxon compilers are examined, followed by five chapters on specialist kinds of prayer: to the Trinity and saints, for liturgical feasts and the canonical hours, to the Holy Cross, for protection and healing, and confessions. Analyzing prayer in …

The Feeling Heart In Medieval And Early Modern Europe: Meaning, Embodiment, And Making, Katie Barclay, Bronwyn Reddan
Studies in Medieval and Early Modern Culture
The heart is an iconic symbol in the medieval and early modern European world. In addition to being a physical organ, it is a key conceptual device related to emotions, cognition, the self and identity, and the body. The heart is read as a metaphor for human desire and will, and situated in opposition to or alongside reason and cognition. In medieval and early modern Europe, the “feeling heart”—the heart as the site of emotion and emotional practices—informed a broad range of art, literature, music, heraldry, medical texts, and devotional and ritual practices. This multidisciplinary collection brings together art historians, …

REID (Research and Evaluation in Education)
Progress in the field of technology often facilitates human work. One of them is progress in the development of questionnaire modes. Currently, existing questionnaires have been based on a digital platform, which makes evaluators easy to design, disseminate, and conduct scoring. All are computer-based, making them reachable by the respondents no matter how far the location of the respondent is, as long as they are connected to the internet. However, any progress is accompanied by several obstacles. For example, the respondents experienced an error in responding to having the intent to respond 'Yes' option but pressing the 'No' button instead. …

Multiple Intelligence Assessment In Teaching English For Young Learners, Ernawati Ernawati, Hana Tsurayya, Abdul Rahman A. Ghani
REID (Research and Evaluation in Education)
There are many schools in Indonesia that provide English as one of their subjects. English has been taught from elementary schools, even in Kindergarten. Based on this reason, this study was conducted to identify students' intelligence through Multiple Intelligence Assessment to get effective approach in teaching English for young learners. China's K-12 Teacher Qualification System, Dani Surya Lee
Jurnal Penelitian dan Evaluasi Pendidikan
A strict teacher qualification system is vital to ensure a steady stream flow of high-quality human resources. In 1993, the People's Republic of China established the Teacher Law demanding that teachers must have legal status and qualifications. It has put into effect a system of qualification that could determine the readiness of K-12 teacher candidates to be practitioners of education. This country's teacher qualification system has experienced changes and adaptations until it has reached the current form in 2016's Teacher Qualification Examination, as more than a tool merely for formality or evaluation of rote learning, but an actual assessment of …

The Performance Tradition Of The Medieval English University: The Works Of Thomas Chaundler, Thomas Meacham
The Performance Tradition Of The Medieval English University: The Works Of Thomas Chaundler, Thomas Meacham
Early Drama, Art, and Music
Contrary to previous scholarship, which has claimed that university drama did not occur at the English universities before the Tudor period, Meacham argues that there was a vibrant tradition of performance throughout the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. He suggests an earlier tradition has not been recognized because, in addition to the false assumption that medieval pedagogy cannot support such activity, the full range of medieval performance practices or "texts," beyond the traditional play text, have not been considered. This book takes as its focus one of the last medieval university plays, Thomas Chaundler’s Liber apologeticus de omni statu humanae naturae …
