CPACS Urban Research Awards
Part of the mission of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS) is to conduct research, especially as it relates to concerns of our local and statewide constituencies. CPACS has always had an urban mission, and one way that mission is served is to preform applied research relevant to urban society in general, and the Omaha metropolitan area and other Nebraska urban communities in particular. Beginning in 2014, the CPACS Dean provided funding for the projects with high relevance to current urban issues, with the potential to apply the findings to practice in Nebraska, …

Making My Path By Walking: Using Community Based Participatory Research In Vietnamese American Studies, Loan T. Dao
Making My Path By Walking: Using Community Based Participatory Research In Vietnamese American Studies, Loan T. Dao
Journal of Southeast Asian American Education and Advancement
This paper outlines my Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) process as a pedagogical pathway: the creation of community-based curricula, of developing relationships with community partners, and the complexities I grappled with as a new Vietnamese American scholar at a university next to a large co-ethnic enclave. Specifically, I reflect on the partnership between my Vietnamese American Studies courses and a local elementary school with a high percentage of newly immigrated students from Viet Nam. We engaged in oral history interviews, classroom visits, the production of bilingual children’s books, and English language tutoring to build inter-generational bridges. Through this reflective process, I …

The Strategic Nature Of Urban Ministry, Alan Mcmahan
The Strategic Nature Of Urban Ministry, Alan Mcmahan
Great Commission Research Journal
The explosive growth of cities around the world provides an unprecedented and strategic opportunity for the advancement of the gospel and the expansion of the church. Ten overlapping realities found in urban contexts are explored in this article to show how the world is dramatically changing the context in which most people live. The enormous advantages offered by urban ministry are then examined to show how the church can extend its reach, identify and reach receptive people and influence the culture of a region or a nation.

Joseph P. Healey Library Publications
Sparked by the 50th anniversary of the founding of the University of Massachusetts Boston in June 1964, University Archives and Special Collections (UASC) staff in the Joseph P. Healey Library collaborated with departments across campus to carry out a wide range of initiatives, all focused on locating, accessioning, preserving, and sharing the physical evidence of the university’s history. This poster outlines the various collecting activities, outreach methods, digitization projects, and dogged detective work that resulted in the addition of more than 2,500 linear feet of unique historic materials to the University Archives, as well as a number of well-received public …

An Evaluation Of Wayne State University's Educational Evaluation And Research Program, Willie L. White Ii
Wayne State University Dissertations
This is a mixed-methods evaluation of the Educational Evaluation and Research program at Wayne State University. The process of evaluation involved determining the efficacy of triangulating qualitative and quantitative methods of evaluation in order to access the EER program's goal acquisition. The process of evaluation commenced with a qualitative method of interviewing faculty members and was triangulated quantitatively with a likert scale survey that was modified from Wayne State University's Student Evaluation of Teaching Survey (SETS). The Student Evaluation of the Educational Evaluation and Research Program (SEEERP) was designed to measure graduate students' perspectives of EER goals and objectives acquisition. …
