Taxonomic Position Of Species Of The Genus Buthacus Birula, 1908 Described By Ehrenberg And Lourenço, And Description Of A New Species (Scorpiones: Buthidae), František Kovařík

Euscorpius

Lectotypes are designated for Androctonus (Leiurus) leptochelys Ehrenberg, 1829, Androctonus (Leiurus) thebanus Ehrenberg, 1828 and Androctonus (Leiurus) macrocentrus Ehrenberg, 1828. In recent papers the latter two species have been regarded as synonyms of Buthacus leptochelys, however its type series is composed of seven specimens that in reality belong to three species. The type series of Androctonus leptochelys includes specimens belonging to Buthacus leptochelys and Buthacus spatzi (Birula, 1911), and the type series of Androctonus macrocentrus includes specimens belonging to Buthacus leptochelys and Buthacus tadmorensis (Simon, 1892). In order to preserve stability, I designate …

From Private To Public Women’S Cooperatives And The Construction Of A Public Sphere, Cecilia Garza Oct 2015

From Private To Public Women’S Cooperatives And The Construction Of A Public Sphere, Cecilia Garza

Independent Study Project (ISP) Collection

This independent study project will explore how participation in the economy benefits women in more ways than just economically. Using the example of five cooperatives functioning in the Moroccan Rif, this paper will investigate how access to the economy not only provides women with supplemental income but also allows them to leave the home and build networks within their communities. These examples will illustrate how illiterate, rural women, who would usually be seen as powerless in the public eye, are taking advantage of the trainings, income and communities they gain from their participation in cooperatives to claim independence and prove …

The Power And Peril Of Global Professionalization: The Global Knowledge Economy, The World Bank, And Higher Education, Jeremy Cole

Educational Policy Studies Dissertations

Since 1962, the World Bank has involved itself in higher education discourse and practice through the provision of loans and grants to developing nations. Initially, such involvement focused primarily on tangible infrastructure projects such as building schools and providing textbooks for students. Over time, however, the Bank has increasingly come to involve itself in less tangible projects such as policy work, technical assistance, and educational discourse – including the creation of the imaginary of the Global Knowledge Economy (GKE). Through this increased focus on higher education policy and discourse, the Bank has come to wield increasing authority over the discourse …

Non-Verbal Resource Kit For Center Asays In Morocco, Heidi Vladyka, Christina Reyer

School of Occupational Therapy Master's Theses (2010-2015)

Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a common neurological disorder caused by injury during brain development. The impairments commonly associated with CP include motor and sensory deficits that can significantly impact all areas of occupation, especially ADL. In countries such as Morocco where the number of healthcare facilities is limited and languages vary, the burden on families to access appropriate care and education can be challenging. Center Asays in Morocco serves children with CP and requested a DVD for caregivers to provide education on proper positioning for both the child and caregiver during ADL. This project created a DVD that includes instruction …

Detrital Zircon Analysis Of The Taza-Guercif Basin And The Adjacent Rif And Middle Atlas Mountains Of Morocco And X-Ray Fluorescence Chemofacies Analysis Of The Maness Shale Of East Texas, Jonathan Richard Pratt

Theses and Dissertations

The research in this compilation encompasses three studies leveraging quantitative chemical analyses to interpret the sedimentary record to reconstruct geologic history. The first study surveys the detrital zircon U-Pb and zircon fission-track geochronology of the sedimentary Cretaceous Ketama and Tisiren units of the Rif Mountains, and the Bou Rached sandstones of the Middle Atlas Mountains. All analyzed samples contain a population of Mesoproterozoic crystallization ages formerly unknown to northwest Africa. Possible sources for these ages include the Avalonian terranes now present on the northeastern seaboard of North America, and/or zircons derived from the Amazonian craton and preserved in the Pan-African …
