Mainstreaming Human Rights Under National And International Law: Legal And Epistemic Question, Damilola S. Olawuyi
Indonesia Law Review
Even though the concept of human rights mainstreaming is not new to public international law, it has recently gained increased recognition as a practical approach for recognizing the linkages between human rights and other social justice issues such as environmental protection. A plenitude of literature have been generated on the need to recognize and enforce human rights standards and norms in a wide range of issues including environment, health, gender, poverty, food, water and refugee protection to mention but a few. Despite the rapid ascendancy of the human rights mainstreaming concept, much attention have not been given to the scope …

Wastewater Disinfection In Enclosed Recirculation Systems With Electromagnetic Waves, Luis G. Mosquera
Wastewater Disinfection In Enclosed Recirculation Systems With Electromagnetic Waves, Luis G. Mosquera
LSU New Orleans Theses and Dissertations
Finding the most cost-effective and environmental friendly way to treat and disinfect wastewater has been raising concerns around the world. Failure in performing disinfection of wastewater before returning it to the environment could have terrible consequences to human health and the ecosystem. The risks associated to continue with current practices have led to the creation of stringent regulations.
In this research the HYDROPATH technology is tested while attaching a HydroFlow 60i unit to a reactor that works as a closed recirculation system. To determine the feasibility of the HydroFlow 60i unit as an alternative method to chlorine, the EPA method …

Battery Energy Storage Systems To Mitigate The Variability Of Photovoltaic Power Generation, Heath Alan Gurganus
Battery Energy Storage Systems To Mitigate The Variability Of Photovoltaic Power Generation, Heath Alan Gurganus
Dissertations and Theses
Methods of generating renewable energy such as through solar photovoltaic (PV) cells and wind turbines offer great promise in terms of a reduced carbon footprint and overall impact on the environment. However, these methods also share the attribute of being highly stochastic, meaning they are variable in such a way that is difficult to forecast with sufficient accuracy. While solar power currently constitutes a small amount of generating potential in most regions, the cost of photovoltaics continues to decline and a trend has emerged to build larger PV plants than was once feasible. This has brought the matter of increased …

Modeling And Analysis Of Masonry Electro-Thermal Heating And Storage For Optimal Integration With Remote Stand-Alone Wind-Diesel Systems, Maura Eileen Sateriale
Modeling And Analysis Of Masonry Electro-Thermal Heating And Storage For Optimal Integration With Remote Stand-Alone Wind-Diesel Systems, Maura Eileen Sateriale
Engineering
Due to their remote locations and small populations, many remote villages in Alaska generate electricity with microgrids that employ diesel-electric generators for their primary source of power, and supplement this production with wind turbines. In such communities, it is economically advantageous to minimize fuel consumption by shifting as much of the village's energy demands to the wind system as is feasible. When wind turbines produce in excess of the demand, it is possible to use the excess electricity to power resistance heaters to heat water in tanks or masonry. The heat is then stored so that it can be used …
