Making Disciples Through Evangelism: A Plan For The Evangelist Who Only Has One Chance At A New Convert, Richard Hertless
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Making disciples is an integral part of being a Christian. God has called some to be Evangelists (Ephesians 4:11). The rationale of the project is the need to fulfill the Great Commission's command of "making disciples." The value of this project is the plan that is developed to ensure that new converts will be placed with a disciple to confirm his or her Christian growth. This project will take the reader through a step-by-step plan to prepare, conduct and follow-up on an evangelism event to ensure that the Great Commission is fulfilled for the new convert to successfully walk in …
The Complex But Necessary Union Of Charity And Justice: Insights From The Vincentian Tradition For Contemporary Catholic Social Teaching, Meghan J. Clark Ph.D.
The Complex But Necessary Union Of Charity And Justice: Insights From The Vincentian Tradition For Contemporary Catholic Social Teaching, Meghan J. Clark Ph.D.
Vincentian Studies
Meghan Clark discusses the relationship between charity and justice as set forth in two of Benedict XVI’s encyclicals, Deus Caritas Est and Caritas in Veritate, and then considers what Vincentian tradition contributes toward the understanding of that relationship. Clark writes, “What emerges is a model of cultivating solidarity through justice and charity as integral to the life of Christian discipleship.” Deus Caritas Est calls for direct service to those in need because it is only through charity and loving others that we are fully aware of God’s love for us. As Clark summarizes Caritas in Veritate, “Justice in …

By This They Will Know: Discipleship Principles To Transform The Church, Mark R. Brown
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Current research indicates that ninety-five million individuals in America do not attend church. Nearly forty percent, of this group, have a negative impression of Christianity. The purpose of this project is to study the forces that that are transforming the American culture, and the dynamics that are perpetuating a bad image of Christianity. The author will evaluate the current state of spiritual formation in the Christian community, and make recommendations for developing an effective discipleship strategy for the church. Missiology And International Justice Mission Introduction, Grace Robertson
Missiology And International Justice Mission Introduction, Grace Robertson
Global Tides
International Justice Mission has a pervasive presence. It is one of the most prominent modern missionary agencies and within this role it serves as a symbol of Christianity pursuing justice. Because of this important position both within the Christian faith as well as on the global platform, it is imperative that International Justice Mission is analyzed with regard to missiology. With the purpose of examining International Justice Mission through the lens of missiology, first the history of International Justice Mission will be discussed. Then the theology of International Justice Mission will be investigated with specific regard to motivation, means, agents, …

Short-Term Overseas Mission Trips An Opportunity For Training In Local Outreach, Paul Biber
Short-Term Overseas Mission Trips An Opportunity For Training In Local Outreach, Paul Biber
Doctor of Ministry Major Applied Project
Acts 1:8 says that mission of the church is to be “witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Conventional wisdom would say to start in your Jerusalem – your immediate community – and go out from there. However, many congregations have forgotten how to connect with their own community. In order to learn how to reconnect with their immediate community, a congregation can participate in a short-term overseas mission trip as a catalyst and training for their local outreach efforts.

Mission And Postmodernities, Rolv Olsen, Kajsa Ahlstrand, J. Andrew Kirk, Tania Petrova
Edinburgh Centenary Series
This volume is simply given the title Mission and Postmodernities, and its content is divided into four main parts: a dialogical introduction; elaborations on the theme, roughly divided into two groups as an attempt at creating a counterpoint, and finally, a chorus of voices from the Edinburgh Conference.

A Learning Missional Church: Reflections From Young Missiologists, Beate Fagerli, Knud Jorgenson, Kari Storstein Haug, Rolv Olsen, Knut Tveitereid
Regnum Edinburgh Centenary Series
This book is compiled by contributions from young missiologists from different parts of the world. It is written from the perspective of youth to be a fresh breath of air into more traditional mission thinking and mission paradigms. These reflections are valuable because of the content; they deal with relevant issues, they depict the church as a 'learning organization' cross-culturally; and they raise signs of youthful willingness to challenge and change.

Life-Widening Mission: Global Perspectives From The Anglican Communion, Cathy Ross
Regnum Edinburgh Centenary Series
Each of the young Anglicans who write on the Five Marks of Mission were at the Edinburgh 2010 conference in June of that year. The articles were then reworked in Toronto a year later, so what you read here is the fruit of much labour, writing, and rewriting. These articles are also open and honest reflections from a range of young Anglicans in a variety of contexts. Here we see a glimpse of the strengths and struggles of the Anglican Communion. There is no space for complacency. The title of the book created much discussion. I still remember the excitement …

God Is Missional, Evangelical Advocacy: A Response To Global Poverty
God Is Missional, Evangelical Advocacy: A Response To Global Poverty
Bibliographies
Understanding God as missional or Missio Dei is an important concept in exploring the function of the church and the importance of Christians to be mission-oriented. These resources can be used to teach master’s level classes or could be resources for churches to dig deeper in the area of missiology. Churches which are missional in nature are growing churches.

A Critique Of The Multi-Ethnic Church Planting Strategy, Gustavo Suarez
A Critique Of The Multi-Ethnic Church Planting Strategy, Gustavo Suarez
Great Commission Research Journal
This paper seeks to discover if the multiethnic church planting strategy is effective in reaching a multicultural nation. This paper will first take a brief look at the challenges of an ethnic population in North America with primary emphasis given to the Hispanic population. Second, I will present supportive evidence for the multiethnic church planting view. Third, I will present arguments against the multiethnic strategy. Fourth, I will give observations and implications for the church. The main source of argument centers more in the methodology used. The reader will readily see the contrasting theological and cultural opinions of these two …
Anticipating Change: Missions And Paradigm Shifts In Emergence, Sam Law
Anticipating Change: Missions And Paradigm Shifts In Emergence, Sam Law
The Asbury Journal
As our global community is in an unprecedented period of rapid change, missiology, being a study of crossing boundaries, plays a critical pathfinder role in anticipating, participating and mediating the change process, for change itself is a temporal boundary. Failure to do so in the past has left the Church and other groups in a position in which they lag change, and have been marginalized and considered irrelevant. Emergence theory is introduced as a new model, in place of Kuhn's pyramid of causality, to describe how change itself has changed, as networks are now the opinion leaders. As well, Emergence …
