Light Suite, Jessica Fiorini
Light Suite, Jessica Fiorini
LSU New Orleans Theses and Dissertations
Light Suite is a collection of the work I produced during my enrollment in the University of New Orleans Low Residency M.F.A. program. The writing, format and length styles reflect my experimentation with my craft. It also provides insight as to what my "poetic voice" is. Light Suite attempts to entwine personal experience with engaged observation and occasional flights of fantasy. The following poems illustrate my attempt at diversifying personal, poetic style. There are travel, prose, and accidental meaning poems. There are poems that feature personal narrative and collaboration. All of my works do share one characteristic and that is …

The Alluring And Manipulative "Spider Women" Of The Silver Screen: Femmes Fatales Of The Hard-Boiled Fiction, Classic Noir And Contemporary Noir Periods, Gretchen Brinker
LSU New Orleans Theses and Dissertations
This thesis delves into three categories of femmes fatales: the ones of hard-boiled fiction/classic noir and contemporary noir. Moreover, it generates several comparisons among those aforementioned categories, and extrapolates on them. Third wave feminism and how it draws relevance/is significant to the Bound and The Last Seduction films is additionally explored in this thesis. This thesis will discuss the similarities of the femmes fatales of the '30s/1940s-50s and contemporary noir (1980s-90s), while delving into differences between them.

The Making And Analysis Of For Justin, Adam Schwartz
LSU New Orleans Theses and Dissertations
This paper thoroughly examines the production of the thesis film, For Justin. Each area of the film's production is discussed and analyzed, including the writing, directing, production design, cinematography, editing, sound, and workflow. My decisions in these areas will be discussed at length and ultimately the final film will be analyzed in order to determine whether I achieved my goal of challenging myself to create a heartfelt, touching film with high production values for my twin brother, Justin.

Twenty-Four-Hour Woman, Mawiyah Bomani
LSU New Orleans Theses and Dissertations
"Sweet Black Pussy for Sale" sets the stage for this very feminine and colloquial laced collection of verse. Both figuratively and literally, the voices of a seldom-traveled African-American culture are depicted through these songs. In this thesis, I consider myself a GRIOT, sworn to tell nothing but the truth. These poems speak from places some might consider sacred and others quite sinful. These poems moan out the anthems of those unsung heroes and heroines from my family lineage. The voices of my long dead grandfather, grandmother, aunts and great uncle haunt poems such as "Blues," "Salvation," "A Memorial for Lawrence," …

Department of Occupational Therapy Faculty Papers
Over the past three years (2006-2008), the medical/health and public health communities have shown a growing interest in using online 3D virtual worlds like Second Life® (http://secondlife.com/) for health education, community outreach, training and simulations purposes. 3D virtual worlds are seen as the precursors of ‘Web 3D’, the next major iteration of the Internet that will follow in the coming years. This paper provides a tour of several flagship Web 3D experiences in Second Life®, including Play2Train Islands (emergency preparedness training), the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention—CDC Island (public health), Karuna Island (AIDS support and information), Tox Town …
