Are American Schools Facing A Shortage Of Qualified Administrators?, Gregory Hine
Journal of Catholic Education
Anecdotal evidence abounds regarding the shortage of principals to lead schools. Sustained attention to the research on recruitment and retention of principals reveals a fascinating development: Ample numbers of teachers have completed administrative licensure requirements and hold the credentials necessary to assume a principalship; however, few wish to apply for the position.

Leadership In Faith-Based Nonprofits As Compared To A Covenantal Framework Of Action: An Exploratory Study To Develop An Alternative Theoretical Framework For Assessing Organizational Processes And Influences, Kahlib J. Fischer
Faculty Dissertations
The purpose of this paper is to better understand leadership in faith-based nonprofits (FNPs) through interviews of managers and executive directors of FNPs. In addition, based upon the data gathered, to construct an FNP leadership paradigm (FLP). To assist in this effort, the Covenantal Framework of Action (CFA) was introduced to serve as a theoretical framework for assessing FNP organizational/ leadership processes and influences. CFA is characterized by noncentralization, participatory decision-making, and servant leadership. Construction of the FNP leadership paradigm and its comparison to CFA revealed that FLP and CFA were similar along every dimension of CFA.

A Discernment-Based Model Of Church Decision-Making, Charles M. Orwiller
Doctor of Ministry
The problem addressed in this paper is: How can the decision-making process for business meetings in First Denver Friends Church be a process dependent upon paying attention to Christ, understanding His direction, and following in holy obedience? This problem will be addressed by proposing a model for decision-making in which the corporate discernment of God's direction and the corporate affirmation of obedience to that discerned direction take place in an environment of worship. Decision-making in the local church requires paying attention to Christ, our Head, then following His direction. Worship is the means by which a congregation attends to Christ. …

Leading Learning Through Imposition Of Leadership Learning Standards, Raymond D. Jorgensen
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This study explored the impact of an imposed standards movement on attitudes and behaviors of a team of line leaders. A case method was employed to describe, to explain, and to draw conclusions about results of standards imposition. Standards were designed and implemented by an executive leadership team frustrated with lack of effective leadership practices of a line leaders team under their supervision. The investigation took an historical perspective, chronicling the story of the company, emerging leadership challenges, and executive leadership responses leading up to the research.
