Implementation Of Pbl In Undergraduate Thinking And Communication Skills Course: The Um Experience, M. Arshad
Research Publications (2000 to 2005)
The implementation of problem based learning in undergraduate thinking and communication skills course is a recent move by the University of Malaya to improve its student's ability to think and communicate effectively. This move was associated with the philosophy of the university to face the challenge of preparing students who are able to meet the needs of the real "world" when they graduated from the university. The aim of this paper is to discuss changes in the respective roles and belief of teachers and students about teaching and learning in an interactive environment. The Personality Profile Of Al-Qaida Leader Osama Bin Laden, Aubrey Immelman
The Personality Profile Of Al-Qaida Leader Osama Bin Laden, Aubrey Immelman
Psychology Faculty Publications
This paper presents the results of an indirect assessment of the personality of Osama bin Laden, founder and leader of the al-Qaida terrorist network responsible for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the United States.
Bin Laden’s primary personality patterns were found to be Ambitious/exploitative and Dauntless/dissenting, with a secondary Distrusting/suspicious orientation, and subsidiary Dominant/controlling and Conscientious/dutiful features.
Ambitious individuals are bold, competitive, and self-assured; they easily assume leadership roles, expect others to recognize their special qualities, and often act as though entitled. Dauntless individuals are bold, courageous, and tough; minimally constrained by the norms of society; routinely engage …

The Aftermath Of September 11, 2001: The Targeting Of Arabs And Muslims In America, Susan M. Akram
Faculty Scholarship
THE DEMONIZING OF ARABS AND Muslims in America began well before the terrible tragedy of September 11, 2001. It can be traced to deliberate mythmaking by film and media,2 stereotyping as part of conscious strategy of 'experts' and polemicists on the Middle East,3 the selling of a foreign policy agenda by US government officials and groups seeking to affect that agenda,4 and a public susceptible to images identifying the unwelcome 'other* in its midst.5 Bearing the brunt of these factors are Arab and Muslim non-citizens in this country. A series of government laws and policies since …

Information concerning Mohamed Atta was collected from media reports in the one-month period following the attack and synthesized into a personality profile using the second edition of the Millon Inventory of Diagnostic Criteria (MIDC), which yields 34 normal and maladaptive personality classifications congruent with Axis II of DSM-IV.
The personality profile yielded by the MIDC was analyzed on the …
