A Conceptual Plan For The Provision Of Reception Facilities In The Philippines, Elson Estioko Hermogino
A Conceptual Plan For The Provision Of Reception Facilities In The Philippines, Elson Estioko Hermogino
World Maritime University Dissertations
This dissertation synthesizes a conceptual plan for the provision of reception facilities to improve marine environmental protection in the Philippines. The study is premised on the perception that the various pollution control measures formulated by the Philippine Coast Guard, which are mandated to address ship source pollution, are not being implemented due to the absence or severe inadequacy of the needed reception facilities in ports. The extent of maritime activities is presented while the various legislation, rules and regulations adopted by the Government concerning marine environmental protection in general, and the provision of reception facilities in particular, are examined. In …

A Study To Determine The Relationship Between Perceived Communication Practices Of Leaders And Subordinate Response To Change, Catherine L. Chevalier
A Study To Determine The Relationship Between Perceived Communication Practices Of Leaders And Subordinate Response To Change, Catherine L. Chevalier
Dissertations
Organizational change continues to challenge leaders as they are charged with transforming their followers from a present state to a future state. This research examined the relationship between perceived communication practices of leaders and employee response to change in a natural setting. Randomly selected employees from the research and development division of a mid-size Fortune 500 company located in the Midwest comprised the sample (N. = 110). The study was executed upon completion of a large-scale change in policy which was formally communicated according to a protocol established by senior management. The participants completed three survey instruments: (1) Communication Environment …

Passionate Visions Of The American South: Self-Taught Artists From 1940 To The Present: An Arts Administration Internship At The New Orleans Museum Of Art, Nilima Z. Mwendo
Arts Administration Master's Reports (1984-2016)
This paper demonstrates the overall success of bringing non-traditional audiences to a New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) exhibition, "Passionate Visions of the American South: Self-Taught Artists from 1940 to the Present." It also highlights the success of some of its public programs. However, the process of attracting these audiences to the museum falls short in its attempts at developing long-term relationships with NOMA. The first chapter provides historical background on NOMA and offers an overview of the "Passionate Visions" project. Chapter Two describes, in relative detail, the project's community outreach component and implementation of its public programs. It closes …

Congestion Management Systems Development And Implementation : Four Case Studies, Arlene Rose-Marie Willis
Congestion Management Systems Development And Implementation : Four Case Studies, Arlene Rose-Marie Willis
Theses
To address concerns of poor air quality, congested highways and the need to manage and plan for transportation within budgetary constraints, the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA) mandated the development and implementation of a Congestion Management System (CMS). Primarily, a CMS will fuel transportation decision making with information on system performance and alternate strategies to alleviate congestion and enhance mobility. Efforts through ISTEA are expected to produce a more efficient American transportation system -- this thesis takes a look at the preparatory activities.
It is based on a federally funded project with metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) in …

Vcu Voice (1995-10-02)
VCU Voice, 1988-1998
VCU Today, the University’s first official administrative organ, began as a somewhat irregular monthly publication but moved to a bi-weekly newspaper format in the 1980s. The newspaper changed its name to VCU Voice in 1988 and ten years later it appeared under the title UniverCity News. As it neared the end of its run as a physical newspaper, the publication became simply VCU News. These four publications were essentially the same periodical published under different titles by the Office of University Relations. VCU News appeared online for the first time in 2002.

School District Restructuring: An Evaluation Process To Determine Effectiveness, Carolyn Ridenour, Thomas J. Matczynski, C. Daniel Raisch
Educational Leadership Faculty Publications
Much has been written concerning the need for schools to restructure. In scores of books and journals on school restructuring, suggestions have centered around such concepts as: decentralization, school-based management, and collaborative decision-making. Although these models have been utilized over a number of years, there is limited evidence relating to their effectiveness.
Almost no research studies have concluded that such restructuring models have impacted the academic lives of students. The purpose of this article is to describe a program evaluation process utilized in conducting a study of school restructuring in a mid-sized, urban school district. The strategies used, results obtained, …

Empowering Communities Of Color Through Computer Technology, Michael Roberts
Empowering Communities Of Color Through Computer Technology, Michael Roberts
Trotter Review
As we hurtle towards the 21st century, an increasing number of individuals start to realize that the ability to use computers and information technology resources effectively will determine how well individuals, organizations, and communities function in a rapidly changing technological society. Numerous studies, including one conducted in the Summer 1995 of Boston's Black community by Freedom House and The Trotter Institute, and highlighted in this issue, have documented the need of Americans—students, workers, unemployed, youth, adults and senior citizens, to become knowledgeable and proficient in the use of computers and information technology. There are several questions that do face communities …

Student And Faculty Perceptions Of A Notebook Computer-Based Instructional System: A Case Study, Paula R. Cooke
Student And Faculty Perceptions Of A Notebook Computer-Based Instructional System: A Case Study, Paula R. Cooke
Theses and Dissertations
Notebook computers are becoming an increasingly prevalent, and sometimes mandatory, accessory in college education. They and other new computer-assisted educational tools can increase dramatically the efficiency of traditional methods of instructional delivery and can provide the technological basis for new innovations in teaching strategy. However, as with any paradigm shift, the changeover in teaching and learning methods is difficult, expensive, and a disruption to the "status quo."
The object of this study was a four year polytechnic institution that recently implemented a mandatory notebook computer program for all students. The purpose of this study was to discover the perceptions of …
An Empirical Investigation Of The Integrated Weapon System Management Concept Of Seamless Processes, Timothy H. Surabian
An Empirical Investigation Of The Integrated Weapon System Management Concept Of Seamless Processes, Timothy H. Surabian
Theses and Dissertations
This research investigated the way four Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) single manager organizations operationalized the Integrated Weapon System Management (IWSM) concept of "seamless processes." In this thesis, the IWSM concept of "seamless processes" refers to the degree of integration between acquisition and sustainment organizations. Four SPO organizations were involved in six case studies. This research focused on the way "seamless processes" affect the shifting of the organizational "center of gravity" within or between single manager organizations. An interview questionnaire was administered to 13 Product Center managers and 6 Logistics Center managers. The interview questions focused on IWSM in general, …
