Stprompt++: Prompting Vision-Language Models For Weakly Supervised Video Anomaly Detection And Fine-Grained Localization, Peng Wu, Chengyu Pan, Guansong Pang, Xiangteng He, Zhiwei Yang, Peng Wang, Yanning Zhang
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Traditional weakly supervised video anomaly detection (WSVAD) tasks typically rely on coarse-grained frame-level labels for training. Although this approach reduces annotation costs, it results in weak semantic understanding and spatial localization capabilities due to the absence of fine-grained annotations, hindering precise pixel-level anomaly detection and localization. Thanks to the success of vision-language models (VLMs), e.g., CLIP, recent approaches leveraging large VLMs focus on exploiting their strong semantic understanding capabilities, but they typically feed only keyframes or short video segments into the models, without supplying sufficient prior contextual information (e.g., contextual frames around anomalies, zoomed-in anomaly regions, and detailed anomaly descriptions), …
Addressing The Challenges Of Cognitive Decline In The Physician Workforce, Sharona Hoffman
Addressing The Challenges Of Cognitive Decline In The Physician Workforce, Sharona Hoffman
Faculty Publications
This book chapter examines the growing challenge of cognitive decline among aging physicians and analyzes various approaches to addressing it. In 2024, twenty percent of working physicians were sixty-five or older, and evidence suggests that 12-14% of older clinicians have cognitive deficits that may affect job performance. The chapter evaluates two primary approaches to cognitive assessment: employer-initiated programs and programs operated by state medical boards. Employer "late career practitioner policies" (LCPP) that require older physicians to undergo testing are becoming increasingly popular among health care organizations. But they are vulnerable to challenge under disability and age discrimination laws, as evidenced …

The Quest That Mints Nothing: Software-Generated Real-World Volunteer Task Sequences Drawn Only From Existing Need Registries, With No Completion Rewards, Compensation-Free Help Requests, Delayed Mediated Acknowledgment And Alarm-Triggered Drone Witnesses Without Patrol, Thon Ly
Defensive Publications Series
We specify a software agent that generates multi-step, real-world volunteer activity sequences for an individual or household exclusively by selecting, ordering and narrating entries already present in community need registries: posted help requests, commons sites awaiting care, pending gift deliveries, and contacts the household itself has named. The sequence data structure has no operation that creates a task; each task is a reference to a live registry entry, re-checked when it begins, and the operator authors no entry. Completing a task confers no points, badges, currency or reputation; the only reward is acknowledgment the beneficiary chooses to send through the …

Failed Gay Rights Amendment To Mankato's Human Rights Ordinance In Mankato, Minnesota In 1987, Kellian Clink
Failed Gay Rights Amendment To Mankato's Human Rights Ordinance In Mankato, Minnesota In 1987, Kellian Clink
Library Services Publications
In 1987, small but passionate people urged the city to pass an amendment to Mankato’s existing human rights ordinance to protect LGBTQ+ communities. Advocates argued that gays were entitled to the same rights as straight people and were looking for protection in housing and employment, particularly. They demonstrated that people had lost jobs, housing, and access to dance venues. Some opponents equated gays with promiscuity, child molestation, solicitation, sin, and AIDS; some were convinced it was not needed; some pinned their arguments on the existence of laws already on the books. This narrative is based on articles from the local …
Scientific Innovation, Institutionalization, And Moral Dilemmas: From Chemical Warfare In World War I To Ai In Modern Conflict, Kylie Kiefer
Scientific Innovation, Institutionalization, And Moral Dilemmas: From Chemical Warfare In World War I To Ai In Modern Conflict, Kylie Kiefer
Holster Scholar Projects
This research examines the different American perspectives surrounding the morality and future of chemical warfare during and after World War I. Using primary sources collected at the National Archives at College Park, it argues that the Chemical Warfare Service survived not because Americans agreed that poison gas was morally acceptable, but because wartime mobilization created scientific expertise, military facilities, and relationships that made dismantling the service after the war difficult. While opponents emphasized moral and humanitarian concerns, advocates defended chemical warfare through arguments about preparedness, military necessity, and claims that gas was more humane than conventional weapons. The paper also …

Mission-Scoped 5g Network Lifecycle With Disconnected Udm Cache And Cryptographic Revocation, Bart Van De Velde, Andreas Enotiadis
Defensive Publications Series
A system is proposed herein that defines fifth-generation (5G) subscriber, credential, and policy state for a mission as a machine-readable mission object. The mission object can be staged, instantiated, operated during a loss of central connectivity using a scoped local Unified Data Management (UDM) cache, and dissolved under policy control. The system combines a mission lifecycle state machine with cryptographic revocation of subscriber identity module (SIM), embedded SIM (eSIM), device, and policy assets at mission end.

The [H]ouse of [R]epresentatives cannot only refuse, but they alone can propose, the supplies requisite for the support of government. . . . This power over the purse may, in fact, be regarded as the most complete and effectual weapon with which any constitution can arm the immediate representatives of the people, for obtaining a redress of every grievance, and for carrying into effect every just and salutary measure.

Semiotic Breakdown In Disaster Evacuation Signage For International Tourists, Mario Christopher Fimbrez
Semiotic Breakdown In Disaster Evacuation Signage For International Tourists, Mario Christopher Fimbrez
Masters Theses
Japan’s disaster evacuation signage systems are highly standardized and widely regarded as effective for the domestic population, who operate within a shared cultural framework shaped by years of earthquake drills, formal disaster education, and a common visual vocabulary for risk and evacuation. In coastal cities like Kamakura, however, the audience composition has changed significantly, with millions of international visitors now navigating these spaces each year without the disaster literacy or cultural familiarity that the existing signage was designed to assume. When those shared assumptions about urgency, symbolism, and environmental threat are absent, the communicative force of the system can be …
Are We Prepared? A Qualitative Multiple Case Study On Multijurisdictional Readiness And Response Capabilities For Atypical Complex Coordinated Incidents Involving Mass-Casualty Cbrne Threats In The State Of Washington, Christopher J. Gard
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Complex coordinated terrorist attacks involving chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) elements, along with active shooter threats, pose significant challenges for first-responding law enforcement officers. Responding to active threats where civilian lives are at immediate risk of serious injury or death requires an immediate, decisive response from the initial officers on the scene. When responders learn that perpetrators have dispersed one or more CBRNE-related weapons during an ongoing violent spree, on-site law enforcement personnel must be appropriately trained and adequately equipped to quickly and decisively confront and neutralize the attacker(s). Because prolonged federal CBRNE response assets can be delayed …
