In looking at a common physical model of the hyperbolic plane, the authors encountered surprising difficulties in drawing a large triangle. Understanding these difficulties leads to an intriguing exploration of the geometry of the Thurston model of the hyperbolic plane. In this exploration we encounter topics ranging from combinatorics and Pick’s Theorem to differential geometry and the Gauss-Bonnet Theorem.

The effect of a polywell geometry hybridized with a stacked gradient poly-homojunction architecture, on the response of a CMOs compatible photodiode array was simulated. Crosstalk and sensitivity improved compared to the polywell geometry alone, for both back and front illumination

In this paper, we have simulated the performance of a photodiode array that has multiple wells per pixel as well as a stacked-gradient poly-homojunction (StaG) geometry. The pixel response resolution was improved when the first StaG epilayer was within 2 μm of the space charge region (SCR).

At-a-station and bankfull hydraulic geometry analyses of peatland channels at Barrington Tops, New South Wales, Australia, reveal adjustments in self-forming channels in the absence of sediment load. Using Rhodes ternary diagram, comparisons are made with hydraulic geometry data from self-forming channels carrying bedload in alluvial settings elsewhere. Despite constraints on channel depths caused at some locations by the restricted thickness of peat, most stations have cohesive, near-vertical, well-vegetated banks, and width/depth (w/d) ratios of similar to 2 that are optimal for sediment-free flow. The superconducting spoke cavity was introduced in the late 1980s in response to the need for superconducting structures in the mid-velocity range. Since then it has found application in many projects. Prototypes have been developed for a wide range of beam velocities. The characteristics and features of the spoke cavity are reviewed and some of their applications are presented.
