The research presented in this paper quantifies the magnitude and costs of rework experienced in new build and renovation/refurbishments projects. Pertinent literature related to rework occurrence and its associate impact has been reviewed. A total of 78 participants from both construction companies and consulting firms participated in this study. Quantitative approach was adopted and data was collected via questionnaire survey targeting purposively selected construction professionals in the Cape Peninsula metropolis. The data was analysed using descriptive (mean) and inferential (One way analysis) statistics.
