Enhancing Simulation Fidelity In Occupational Therapy Education: Considerations For Standardized Patient Training And Implementation, John V. Rider, Linda Frasier, Jessica Parkin
Journal of Occupational Therapy Education
The use of high-fidelity simulation and standardized patients (SPs) in occupational therapy (OT) education is expanding. However, the implementation of simulation varies across programs, leading to inconsistent outcomes and research limitations. Furthermore, details on SP use and training are lacking in OT literature. This article aims to provide OT educators with considerations for improving simulation fidelity by effectively using highly trained SPs. For example, recruiting SPs from diverse backgrounds is necessary to improve sociological fidelity, and proper training of SPs is required to ensure psychological fidelity. This article also emphasizes the need for standardized training for SPs and recommends following …

Journal of Human Sciences and Extension
Cooperative Extension Service (Extension) Agents are tasked with incorporating physical activity promotion in their work. Physical activity training interventions rarely report specific structures (dose, content) and measures (fidelity, resource cost). The study’s purpose was to evaluate the feasibility and resource costs of Physical Activity in Cooperative Extension (PACE), a training to increase physical activity in public health competency. PACE is a virtual, 9-week, 18-hour general capacity-building training based on the Interactive Systems Framework. Fidelity was calculated as the proportion of objectives delivered as intended and total time to deliver core components. Resource cost was calculated as the time spent on …
Fidelity Monitoring In The Solution Focused Wellness For Hiv (Sfwh) Intervention For Women, Helen Taylor Yates, Spencer Elise Lee
Fidelity Monitoring In The Solution Focused Wellness For Hiv (Sfwh) Intervention For Women, Helen Taylor Yates, Spencer Elise Lee
Journal of Solution Focused Practices
Solution Focused methods are often interpreted by different practitioners with a degree of flexibility and adaptation to specific practice settings (Lehmann & Patton, 2012). This flexibility is one of the features that makes SFBT a very client-centered approach and has been highlighted as one of the key aspects of successful co-construction of desired outcomes with clients (Franklin et al., 2017). This collaborative approach is possible due to SFBT’s utilization of social constructionist principals in the solution-building process (Blundo & Simon, 2015). While encouraging flexibility of implementation of SFBT, identifying the main tenets of the therapy, including specific techniques and mindsets …

Quality Advancement in Nursing Education - Avancées en formation infirmière
Background: The various pressures on nurses in their practice environment, given the complexity of care, have exposed the confusion around the role definition and level of professional identity (PI) of future nurses. To support them in their practice, it is important throughout their education to know their commitment, representations, and sense of identity with respect to their future profession. To our knowledge, there is no measurement tool in the literature that can be used to measure the PI of nursing students throughout their education, given its complex multidimensional nature.
Objective: Based on a framework that takes into account …

In the report, Rising Above the Gathering Storm, it was recommended that if the U.S. is to remain competitive in the 21st-century economy, there must be a serious effort to “enlarge the pipeline of students who are prepared to enter college and graduate with a degree in STEM” (National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, & Institute of Medicine, 2007, p. 6). The report included the recommendation that states develop statewide specialty STEM high schools (National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, …
Examining Predictors Of Implementation Quality In An Emerging International Extension Context, Ryan J. Gagnon, Jonathan Pettigrew
Examining Predictors Of Implementation Quality In An Emerging International Extension Context, Ryan J. Gagnon, Jonathan Pettigrew
The Journal of Extension
In this article, we explore a component of evidence-based programming—implementation quality—within an emerging international Extension context. Specifically, we examine how the traits, characteristics, and perceptions of 46 program facilitators influenced their support of maintaining implementation quality in a Nicaraguan youth violence and substance abuse prevention program, Dale se REAL. The results indicated that of four potential variables, only facilitator buy-in to the Dale se REAL program was a meaningful predictor of implementation support. The implications of the study findings, relative to evidence-based Extension research in both the United States and an emerging international context, are discussed.

We conducted a process evaluation of the Shaping Healthy Choices Program, a multicomponent school-based nutrition program, when implemented in partnership with University of California (UC) CalFresh and UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE). There were positive impacts on participating students, but results varied across counties, possibly due to variation in fidelity to the curriculum and implementation of program components. Our evaluation identified the strength of UCCE in delivering nutrition education and a need for additional support and training for building capacity to effect change in school policies, systems, and environment. Because educators throughout Extension are working to integrate programs addressing policies, systems, …

On A Moving Four-Level Λ-Type Atom Interacting With A Single-Mode Quantized Field In Intensity-Dependent Coupling, Tarek M. El-Shahat, Lamia E. Thabet
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The interaction between a moving four-level atom and a single-mode cavity field are discussed in the presence of intensity dependent atom field coupling. For this purpose, we first demonstrate the feasibility of the effective Hamiltonian and evaluate the explicit time-dependent form of the state vector of the whole system by choosing special initial conditions for atom, field. Considering the field to be initially in a coherent state, and the atom is initially prepared in the excited state. The wave function is obtained in three different cases: resonance case, off-resonance case, finally we obtained it in the general form. We study …

Implementation Of A Personal Area Network For Secure Routing In Manets By Using Low-Cost Hardware, Himadri Nath Saha, Rohit Singh, Debika Bhattacharyya, Pranab Kumar Banerjee
Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
Presently, mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are being used extensively in the defense, private, domestic, etc. fields and each of these emulates a personal area network (PAN). A MANET does not require any infrastructure; moreover, it can behave as a mobile network. These features have boosted the popularity of MANETs in the community. As more and more fields become dependent on MANETs, the system needs to be more energy aware and low cost. To commercialize MANETs, the routing protocols need to be lightweight, secure, and energy efficient, and the hardware on which it is to be implemented should be low …

Evidence-Based Programming Within Cooperative Extension: How Can We Maintain Program Fidelity While Adapting To Meet Local Needs?, Jonathn R. Olson, Janet A. Welsh, Daniel F. Perkins
The Journal of Extension
In this article, we describe how the recent movement towards evidence-based programming has impacted Extension. We review how the emphasis on implementing such programs with strict fidelity to an underlying program model may be at odds with Extension's strong history of adapting programming to meet the unique needs of children, youth, families, and communities. We describe several techniques that Extension professionals can use to balance program fidelity and adaptability. We suggest that Extension stakeholders may be best served when we tailor certain aspects of interventions without changing the intervention's core components that are responsible for positive outcomes.

Financial Transaction And Fiduciary Obligation: Ethics, Economics Or Commingled Commitment?, S. Romila Palliam, Lee G. Caldwell, Dilip K. Ghosh
International Journal of Banking and Finance
Financial transactions and fiduciary obligations are simply intertwined. Fiduciaries are subject to the principle of fidelity. It appears, at times at least, public trust in fiduciary commitments is declining as a result of fiduciaries’ selective reporting of financial events and the existence of conflicts when fiduciaries have selfish motives: motives being not always to maximize the trusting party’s value. It is the agency problem. This work attempts to enunciate that commitments and fiduciary obligations emanating from initial financial transactions are not to be violated or ignored as a matter of policy or practice. The questions that arise are: Should …

Using Vegetation Units As Salinity Predictors In The Lower Cheliff Algeria, Adda Ababou, Mohammed Chouieb, Mohammed Khader, Khalladi Mederbal, Djamel Saidi
Turkish Journal of Botany
The Lower Cheliff plain is among the largest salted soils in north-western Algeria. In order to establish the relationships between the main soil factors and plant species in this stressed ecosystem, 133 relevés related to soil and vegetation were realized. Soil variables measured included electrical conductivity and calcium carbonate. The 133 relevés were arranged in clusters using k-means classification. The similarity analysis used to examine the variation in vegetation assemblage structure showed significant differences in taxonomical composition among groups of relevés. The phi coefficient of fidelity used then to extract the different vegetation units and to measure species concentration in …
