Self-Evaluation Of Educational Leadership Practices During Covid-19, Mike Coquyt
The Interactive Journal of Global Leadership and Learning
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, school districts, and specifically, superintendents, are under increased pressure to lead. Irregularity and ambiguity are now the mantras of those tasked with leading in our schools. Many current research studies aim to evaluate the possible effects of COVID-19 on the system of education (Azorín, 2020; Hargreaves & Fullan, 2020), and advice on how to lead during a crisis (Harris & Jones, 2020; Leithwood et al., 2020, Netolicky, 2020). There are no standards or benchmarks to follow that could potentially aid school leaders as they navigate, lead, and make important decisions that affect how quality instruction …

Coagulopathy is one of the complications of COVID-19 and is associated with a higher risk of mortality. However, evidence regarding the effectiveness and safety of anticoagulant therapy in various doses among COVID-19 patients is limited. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to review and explore the effect of using heparinoids as a systemic anticoagulant at prophylactic doses on mortality in COVID-19 patients. Systematic searches were conducted of various databases (Pubmed, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Scopus, and ProQuest) covering the period 2019-2021. We assessed the quality of the articles using the STROBE checklist. Studies with a high risk of bias were excluded before …

Examining The Economic Impacts Of Restricted Energy Supply Chain On The Vietnamese Economy With Structure Path Analysis, Chung Van Nguyen
Asia-Pacific Social Science Review
The paper examines the impact of the restricted energy supply chain on key business sectors of Vietnam’s economy during the COVID-19 period by using structure path analysis combined with constrained fixed price multiplier to examine energy price changes for key business sectors of the economy between 2019 and 2020. The result shows that the change in coal price will likely lead to a downward trend in the overall price of the production. In particular, when the government restricts 10% of the energy supplies chain, the travel services, transportation services, trade, and repair services sectors will have the strongest impact on …

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has presented the world with a major challenge in curbing infection. Information is important for public awareness of the pandemic and its prevention as part of the problem-solving efforts. Grounded on the situational theory of problem solving (STOPS), this study extends the theory by adding religiosity, an important factor that affects health-related behaviors, to examine its role as an antecedent to the situational perceptions that motivate people to take communicative action in preventing COVID-19, and to investigate the factors that lead to precautionary behavior in response to the pandemic. Based on the online survey responses from 371 …

Media was added as a moderating variable between these predictors and the behavior to follow the COVID-19 protocol. An online survey was conducted amongst 200 females and 200 males in Metro Manila. This research locale was chosen as it had the highest COVID-19 infection rate in …

Impact Investment For Brics Cooperation On Sustainable Development, Anita Mujumdar, Alexey Shadrin
Asia-Pacific Social Science Review
A sustainable development agenda has always been at the core of BRICS cooperation. However, the progress has been limited for many reasons, including economic diversity, over-reliance on Western technologies and capital, lack of own sources of financing, and common strategy. At the same time, accounting for over 40% of the global population, over 20% of the world’s GDP, and contributing to more than 40% of global CO2 emissions, BRICS countries are among the world’s most important players in sustainability and climate. Therefore, finding organic ways of sustainable growth in these countries is crucial to global efforts in achieving sustainable development …

The Effect Of Covid-19 Pandemic On Volatility Transmission Between The U.S. And Emerging Asia Stock Markets: A Case Study Of Tiger Cub Economies, Mien Nguyen Thi Ngoc, Tung Mai Son
Asia-Pacific Social Science Review
The globalization in financial markets has highlighted the importance of a clear understanding of volatility transmission among equity markets in different countries. This paper looks into the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the volatility transmission between the U.S. stock market and five emerging equity markets called Tiger Cub economies in Southeast Asia. As the result of the dynamic conditional correlation GARCH (DCC-GARCH), the U.S. stock market’s volatility links positively to these smaller economies’ volatilities, and these linkages become stronger during the pandemic. We also find evidence of statistically significant co-volatility across five Tiger Cub markets. Due to the increase …

It's no secret that with the development of information technology, many ethical problems of biomedicine have become aggravated. This is especially true of the issue of medical secrecy and protection of patient data. Digital medicine requires the opposite specifically in emergency situations: to disclose all the data concerning the course of the disease in order to reduce its further spread. Every day we read or watch videos from all over the world in the media about sick people and how their diseases are progressing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Confidentiality protection of personal data, information and software support of the user, …

Journal of University Teaching & Learning Practice
This article, via collaborative autoethnographic reflections, provides an extreme comparison of intra-period responses in two countries (the UK and Singapore) to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in higher education. Taking autoethnographic examples from these countries from three pairs of stakeholders of higher education (HE) – students, non-teaching academic staff, and lecturers – we discuss contrasting experiences in pursuit of answering the research question: What were our experiences working/studying in HE during the COVID-19 global pandemic? Despite the pronounced differences of the higher education landscapes in the UK and in Singapore and the heterogeneous experiences of them, five common themes emerged …

The COVID-19 pandemic demanded the closure of education institutions abruptly in the middle of the academic term, disrupting regular teaching and learning activities throughout the world. The teaching fraternity immediately moved to online teaching to minimize learning damage and continue academic activities. With the sudden shift from traditional practices to online teaching, the key question arises about effectiveness of online teaching in higher education and how the teaching fraternity pursues academic activities, grouped under pre, during and post online teaching. This study aimed at examining the faculty perspective of online teaching in higher education without much experience and preparation. Data …

International Journal of Islands Research
Malta had a rollercoaster experience with the COVID-19 pandemic. One moment it was doing exceptionally well. The next moment it became a basket case, the second worst in Europe. It was unlikely that a little island would garner an ongoing attention in the international press when each country was focusing on its pandemic problems at home. For this research, we visited Malta and explored first-hand the dichotomy between official statements and what transpires on the ground during a pandemic. Maltese public policy communications rely on a conduit model where policy messages are sent to the public in a one-way direction. …
