The sustainable development of an ageing society necessitates active participation of older people, requiring effective integration of their individual and collective resources into design. However, designers’ understanding of older people’s resources is rather limited. This study aims to develop a conceptual model of older people’s resources to support design for healthy ageing. Through literature review and interviews with 19 recently retired Dutch seniors, twelve resource types were identified, categorised into six dimensions: practical, emotional, intellectual, social, cultural, and time. This paper develops a multi-scalar indicator framework that bridges macro sustainability goals with the realities of historic district regeneration, focusing on the Laomendong Historic District in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. The study translates top-down policies into meso to micro level design indicators that capture the spatial, social, and cultural dimensions of sustainability. Using a mixed-methodology approach, it combines policy content analysis to identify macro-narratives with grounded theory-based social media analysis to reveal bottom-up perceptions and everyday experiences. The rising prevalence of social loneliness among solo-living young adults indicates an urgent need for support. However, research addressing this issue, especially in Asia, is limited. This study aims to bridge this gap by introducing co-illustration workshops as a novel method to enhance social connections and wellbeing in this demographic. Employing a participatory action research (PAR) methodology, the study engages participants in five iterative co-design cycles to enhance social connections. The findings suggest that temporary co-illustration workshops serve as a conduit for conversation and facilitate the formation of high-quality weak ties, thereby alleviating social loneliness. This article presents a case-based investigation of design-led foresight in practice through a series of international workshops conducted in Denmark and China within a doctoral action-research programme with Revigrés, a Portuguese ceramic manufacturer. Grounded in a structured trend cartography clustered into fifteen domains, multidisciplinary teams employed lightweight foresight methods, including personas, rapid scenario visioning, and low-fidelity prototyping, to explore possible housing futures for 2070. Twelve speculative design visions emerged, ranging from bio-integrated habitats and privacy-legible smart homes to circular neighbourhood systems and programmable interiors. This study examines mani stone piles in Eastern Tibet as material forms emerging through dwelling, movement, and situated acts of making. Drawing on Tim Ingold’s dwelling perspective and long-term visual ethnography conducted between 2016 and 2025, it shows how mani piles are produced through the embodied selection, carrying, and stacking of stones at passes, riverbanks, and crossroads. Rather than treating these piles primarily as fixed religious symbols or products of prior design intention, we argue that their forms arise from the practical coordination of bodily skill, available materials, topography, ritual habit, and movement through the landscape. South Korea, as the fastest-aging country in the world, occupies a critical position in aging research. Designing for older adults requires a multidimensional understanding; however, existing studies on design principles for aging have tended to adopt functionalist approaches focused primarily on physical and cognitive decline. The widespread application of Augmented Reality (AR) technology in cultural tourism has made the optimization of user interaction a key factor in enhancing the overall experience. This study takes the Gongtan Ancient Town in Chongqing as a case study to conduct a comparative analysis of embodied and non-embodied interactive AR in cultural contexts. A within-subject experiment with 36 participants was conducted, combining quantitative evaluations (UEQ-S scale, cognitive dimension ranking, and comparative scoring) and qualitative insights from semi-structured interviews. Evolution of contemporary exhibition practices has challenged the dominance of the traditional ‘white cube’ model, which emphasizes the autonomy of artworks but often limits emotional engagement. This study examines audience interaction mechanisms and spatial experience in Chinese non-galleries, particularly in tourist, residential, and commercial cultural environments. This study develops sustainable materials using hydrogel as the matrix and explores the transition from sustainable materials to user-centered sustainability, with a particular focus on achieving art healing through material experience. The findings reveal that "Aesthetic" property exert the greatest influence on art healing in the context of multimodal material experiences involving visual, tactile, and smell, followed by "Intrinsic" property, whereas "Physical" property have a comparatively limited effect. Marine ranching represents a new approach to sustainable fisheries by integrating social, technological, and ecological dimensions within the STES framework. This study applies the framework to 15 demonstration sites in Guangdong Province to examine how innovation, governance, and community participation interact with ecosystem health and biodiversity. Using regression and descriptive analyses, we identified key relationships: stakeholder engagement fosters technological adoption, sustainable technologies support ecosystem health, and community involvement strongly promotes biodiversity conservation. Moreover, biodiversity emerged as a strong predictor of water quality, underscoring its importance for maintaining resilient marine systems. Interdisciplinary teams are crucial for organizational innovation but face a dual-process challenge: disciplinary differences can either foster creativity-enhancing integrative complexity or hinder it through intellectual centrism. This study examines these opposing mechanisms and their contingent factors. Drawing on paradox theory, we propose that conflict arising from disciplinary differences activates: (1) integrative complexity (the differentiation and integration of contradictory perspectives), which enhances creative performance; and (2) intellectual centrism (a rigid adherence to one’s discipline), which inhibits creativity. Paradoxical task framing (e.g., pursuing novelty and practicality) intensifies both mechanisms. Notably, these effects primarily emerge during the convergent phase (idea selection) of the …

In contemporary family life shaped by digital media, face-to-face communication between parents and children is increasingly limited. Traditional companion-style games often fail to support both emotional bonding and collaborative interaction. Grounded in embodied cognition theory, this study introduces a motion-based parent–child game with a “lighting–collection” mechanism and role-based task division. The system promotes non-verbal coordination and physical cooperation in a non-competitive setting. A mixed-method study involving eight families with children aged 6–9 evaluated its impact through behavioural observation, task performance, and emotional feedback. This study investigates the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) into community public art, focusing on both public participation experience and outcomes. A model based on Intrinsic Motivation (IM), Participation Efficacy (PE), and Positive Group Affect (PGA) is tested via SEM to identify key factors influencing engagement and inform design strategies. Hands-on community workshops validate the model’s applicability, while an AHP–TOPSIS framework evaluates and ranks three co-created design proposals. The research provides a public-centered, media-adaptive approach for supporting and enhancing public participation in community art.

Adequate flowability is crucial to ensure proper homogeneity, mechanical properties, and durability of hardened concrete. A new parameter called the Shear Work Index (SWI), which combines yield stress and plastic viscosity, was recently proposed by the authors to evaluate concrete flowability. Factors that can influence SWI are analysed in this paper. Application methods of SWI are demonstrated through case studies involving the evaluation of rheology-modifying materials, the selection of the optimal manufactured sand replacement ratio in mixed sand, and the determination of concrete vibration time. Design teams that implement digital innovation often use cutting edge techniques, such artificial intelligence and big data, to inform their design decisions. Artificial intelligence (AI) is widely employed to empower creative industries. Many enterprises have adopted AI to design creative products (CPs). This study investigates the determinants of purchase behavior and consumer attitudes towards AI-design CPs. Two studies were conducted. Study 1, with 764 participants, aims to determine if consumers have a positive view of AI design. Results indicate recognition of AI's creative abilities, with the designer's identity significantly affecting creativity evaluation. Study 2, based on 328 surveys, explores consumer evaluations of AI-designed products, purchase intentions, and attitudes. As internet became the primary source for relationship formation, reports have emerged of negative experiences, poorer mental health and lower wellbeing. The design of online dating services influences user behaviours and can either support or inhibit relationship formation. To foster successful online relationship formation, understanding desired interaction qualities is crucial. This exploratory study presents a survey involving 100 participants from 23 nationalities across 5 continents. It identifies five key desired interaction qualities: excitement, comfort, safety, trust, and reciprocity.
