The state of Nebraska recently adopted and implemented a set of Science standards that aligns with the Next Generation Science Standards which include engineering practices such as engineering design and the use of technology. Curriculum administrators throughout the state are responsible for the implementation of these standards including training for engineering teaching and learning. This exploratory study investigated curriculum administrators’ (n = 43) perceptions of Engineering Education in four areas: Importance of Engineering Education, District Familiarity with Engineering Education, Characteristics of Engineering, and Barriers to Integrating Engineering Education. This exploratory mixed methods study evaluates the process of a Christian school’s expansion and development within the complexity of the school’s culture. The study describes the transition of a non-public school from a K-8 school to a complete K12 program at Cornerstone Christian School, Bellevue, Nebraska, resulting in a description of the decision-making steps needed for the transition and analyzing the outcomes. The practice of providing feedback to teachers through the process of teacher evaluation is designed to improve the quality of instruction at the classroom level. As a qualitative, multiple case study this research reports on the factors that young adults, in their early to mid-twenties, reflect upon as contributing factors they encountered during their high school and late adolescent years that lead them to or away from success. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the teacher evaluation process, teacher’s attitudes and beliefs about teacher evaluation processes/systems, and how those impacted the effectiveness of the intended outcome of teacher improvement, resulting in greater student achievement. The Learning Policy Institute’s research cited a decline in the number of teachers exiting higher education institutions from 691,000 in 2009 to 451,000 in 2014 (Sutcher, Darling-Hammond, & Carver-Thomas, 2016). This study provides a historical record of the Nebraska assessment and accountability system from 1998 - 2017. Through a document analysis approach, a narrative has been developed capturing the story of Nebraska’s unique and evolving assessment and accountability system. The study is divided into three time periods, 1998 - 2007, 2008 - 2011, and 2012 - 2017, separated by key legislation and changes to Nebraska’s assessment and accountability system.
