Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park Dedicates Mike Baur’S Sextant Yoke, Office Of Public Affairs

The Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park at Governors State University recently celebrated the dedication of “Sextant Yoke” by artist Mike Baur of West Chicago.

The sculpture dedication was made possible by Lila Thorpe’s donation to the park in honor of her husband Dr. James Harvey Hensley, who passed away in 2001. Dr. Hensley was a well respected professor of astronomy at Governors State University for twenty years.

Recently, hundreds of young children, including 140 kindergarten through second grade students from Bernice Childs Elementary School in Robbins, crowded into The Center for Performing Arts (CPA) at Governors State University to enjoy a rocking, musical depiction of evolution through the stories of some very large and colorful dinosaurs. As the dinosaurs romped across the stage in Mammoth Follies, they taught science lessons and the children laughed, learned, and enjoyed live theater.
