A major nursing shortage in the healthcare industry is made worse by high turnover rates. Healthcare organizations have used mentoring programs that have been found to enhance job satisfaction, thus improving nurse retention. To address this challenge, this study examined the use of a mentorship program supplemented by an educational toolkit that is specially made to improve nurse retention in long-term care facilities. The purpose of this quantitative, predictive-correlational research study was to examine how well a linear combination of predictor variables, including course structure, is able to predict the levels of integration and rates of reenrollment among students at a regional, comprehensive university in the southwest. This qualitative multiple case study explored the perspectives of non-academic employees in private higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Northeast United States on the availability of formal career pathing, professional development opportunities, and succession planning impacting engagement and retention. The researcher conducted semi-structured one-on-one interviews with 20 non-academic employees across five private higher education institutions in various career stages and divisions, including human resources, student affairs, facilities, academic affairs, information technology, and development. Despite many differences across Pennsylvania's rural school districts, band programs face similar recruitment, retention, and matriculation challenges. Rural school districts in Pennsylvania account for 235 of the 499 school districts in Pennsylvania while educating less than 20 percent of the student population in the state.
