Adolescent school bullying is a significant public health issue with approximately 20% of US adolescents reporting victimization or perpetration in schools. Much prior research has established that school bullying is associated with significant somatic and depressive health consequences. Additionally, prior research has examined the beneficial impact of positive coping strategies on negative health outcomes associated with school bullying. However, given that bully-involved adolescents often have less access to positive coping outlets, less research has examined the influence of negative coping behaviors on health outcomes associated with school bullying.
