Catholic Charities - Diocese of Monterey has implemented Stress Management in the Kitchen though the Family Support Services department of the Seaside office. Stress Management in the Kitchen was implemented to address the knowledge gap between nutrition and healthy living.The purpose of the workshop series was to give clients a fun and digestible way to increase their knowledge on how their health and nutritional habits can or should be applied to how they deal with stress. Assigning equitable homework to students from low socioeconomic status (SES) families is a challenge for elementary school teachers. Often, teachers assign traditional homework activities such as weekly packets, projects, and research. Unfortunately, research indicates that students often do not have access to materials, parental help, and/or other resources which their SES advantaged peers may have. This study is important because students should have the opportunity to continue their learning outside of the classroom, and involve their families in their learning. Within our community, there are children in the foster care system who suffer for various reasons. As these children journey through life, they do not always come across caring adults, worthy peer relationships, or are given a voice to talk about their experience when wanted.
