Background STIs or sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are consequential public health emergencies that affect millions of people globally and have long-term health implications (Garcia et al., 2024). The aim of this study was to explore how graduating prelicensure bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) students experience self-care and wellness, with the goal of informing future curriculum development. Nursing students face significant academic, emotional, and sociocultural pressures that heighten vulnerability to burnout. Despite widespread agreement that self-care is a professional expectation, little is known about the students’ experience within demanding programs. Guided by Orem et al.’s (2001) self-care deficit theory, a qualitative study using interpretive hermeneutic phenomenology was used to examine lived experiences of self-care and wellness. Objectives: This study examines how university students perceive the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on their self-reported knowledge, attitudes, and views on the role of institutions in promoting sustainability.
Methods: An online survey was conducted among students in Slovenia.
Results: The results show that most students are aware of the SDGs and support their integration into education, although their personal engagement with sustainability practices is more reserved. Statistical analysis revealed that both the level and field of study significantly influence students’ SDG awareness, with advanced and social science students reporting higher familiarity. This study examined the factors influencing antenatal care (ANC) utilization in the eastern region of Nepal, focusing on the Morang and Sunsari districts, with the aim of identifying key determinants affecting ANC uptake and assessing the extent of ANC service utilization among mothers. Using lot quality assurance sampling, a community-based, descriptive, cross-sectional design was employed, surveying 164 mothers who had given birth within the previous 12 months; data were collected from June through November 2023. Data were collected through a semi-structured questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS, with descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and logistic regression. Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that can rapidly lead to organ dysfunction, septic shock, and death if not recognized and treated early. Older adults in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) are especially vulnerable because of age-related physiological changes, chronic conditions, weakened immunity, and increased exposure to infections. Consequently, sepsis remains a major cause of hospital readmissions, mortality, and healthcare utilization among SNF residents. Staff education in this project was focused on improving nursing staff’s knowledge on pressure injury prevention, inspired by the persistent care quality gap. The gap in practice as of 2024 related to hospital-acquired pressure injury (HAPI) at the host health organization was reported to be approximately 0.2 per 1,000 discharges. It was apparent that education could benefit the nursing staff to improve their knowledge in pressure injury prevention. This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project was a quality improvement initiative designed to improve provider knowledge regarding the identification and management of young adults diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and comorbid anorexia nervosa in an outpatient behavioral health clinic. Evidence has demonstrated a significant association between ADHD and eating disorders; however, this comorbidity is frequently underrecognized in clinical practice, contributing to challenges in treatment selection and patient safety. Stimulant medications, the first-line pharmacologic treatment for ADHD, may suppress appetite and promote weight loss, potentially worsening anorexia nervosa and delaying nutritional recovery (Shear et al., 2021). A comprehensive review of evidence from CINAHL Complete, PubMed/MEDLINE, and Cochrane supports the use of culturally tailored, evidence-based dietary education to improve diabetes knowledge, self-management behaviors, and health outcomes. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a leading cause of morbidity, mortality, and hospital readmissions, with rural critical access hospitals (CAHs) facing unique challenges in delivering consistent, evidence-based care. In this qualitative phenomenological study, the beliefs and lived experiences of midlife, low-income Black women with hypertension were explored, concentrating on understanding how social determinants of health influence effects adherence to diet, physical activity and stress management. Social determinants of health and how health beliefs shape adherence to behaviors were examined. The study was guided by a dual theory approach of the social cognitive theory and theory of planned behavior. Summary The type of project is a staff education project, specifically on evidence-based weight loss strategies that the facility can use to manage adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and co-morbid mental health disorder(s). The use of non-conventional health care, such as complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and traditional healing practices, is increasing in the United States. Little is known, however, about its prevalence and influencing factors among college students—especially of varied racial/ethnic background. This study examined these patterns among college students using a cross-sectional survey conducted at a Hispanic-serving institution. Participants reported their use of non-conventional care, and demographic and motivational factors were analyzed using descriptive and bivariate analyses. Adolescent obesity persists as a critical public health challenge in the United States, with Black and Hispanic adolescent females experiencing elevated rates. Adolescent obesity contributes to serious long-term health risks, but provider counseling may support body mass index (BMI) management. Guided by the social-ecological model, this study examined whether receiving medical recommendations to control or lose weight was associated with BMI among Black and Hispanic adolescent females aged 16–19 years and whether meal preparation habits and food security status moderated this association, controlling for age, household income, and race/ethnicity.
