Disease Modifying Drugs In Osteoarthritis: Structural & Symptomatic Outcomes, Peyton F. Weber
Disease Modifying Drugs In Osteoarthritis: Structural & Symptomatic Outcomes, Peyton F. Weber
Summer Interdisciplinary Research Symposium
Objective: This capstone project aimed to evaluate whether proposed disease-modifying osteoarthritis drugs (DMOADs), compared to placebo, can slow or halt structural joint changes and subsequently improve pain and function in adults with osteoarthritis (OA).
Methods: A systematic review was conducted using PubMed, Google Scholar, and EBSCO, focusing on studies published since 2019 that evaluated proposed DMOADs (lorecivivint, sprifermin, chondroitin, and glucosamine) versus placebo in adults with clinical or radiographic knee OA. Inclusion required reporting on joint space width (JSW), pain, and/or function. Studies involving pediatric or animal subjects, prior joint surgery, malignancy, and non-placebo comparators, or lacking structural or symptomatic …
Iv Ketamine And Treatment Resistant Depression, Rachel Yeager
Iv Ketamine And Treatment Resistant Depression, Rachel Yeager
Summer Interdisciplinary Research Symposium
Objective: Treatment resistant depression (TRD) affects many individuals diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD). This paper aims to compare the efficacy of ketamine in comparison to previously established treatment options such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Methods: Recent literature was used to conduct a systematic review and compare ketamine, ECT, and TMS, in the management of TRD. Studies within the last five years were included and made use of both randomized control trials and retrospective cohort studies. Primary endpoints were measured using depression rating scales such as HAMD, MADRS, CGI, QIDS, and BDI. Results: Ketamine demonstrated …

Wellness, Health, And Salvation : About The Religious Dimension Of Contemporary Body-Mindedness, Christoffer H. Grundmann
Wellness, Health, And Salvation : About The Religious Dimension Of Contemporary Body-Mindedness, Christoffer H. Grundmann
Theology Faculty Publications
Alluding to the enormous investments in wellness, health, and anti-aging by affluent US society today the article focuses on the anthropological and religious implications of this phenomenon by stating that the pursuit of such caring for the body has superseded the quest for salvation. The first section provides a historical background analysis of how the contemporary semi-religious bodymindedness came about, while the second part analyses wellness, health, and salvation from a phenomenological point of view. It shows that any body image which does not address human frailty turns into something utterly inhumane while a religiously informed anthropology, in contrast, not …

A new pattern of voter registration efforts is under way in Selma, Alabama, as civil rights workers from across the country have joined in the effort to add Negroes to the city's voters rolls.
The voter drive has resulted in mass arrests, minor violence, and increasing criticism of the Federal government's role there by civil rights groups.

"My Dear Brother:
I hope you will forgive me If I add a few random footnotes to the reports from the Synodical Convention In Cleveland. I was there — from the first well-timed story by Vice-President Theodore Nickel at the open hearing on June 18 to the tired debate — almost two weeks later — over the exact amount of dollars and cents we might be able to raise for the Kingdom during the coming triennlum. If you have already read enough about the convention, please pack these notes with the comic books for the children when you leave for …

Ninety-two Negroes who were housed in the Douglas Hotel on Chicago's South Side were left homeless when the building caught fire on June 26th. The Red Cross came to the help of the victims, largely women and children, and before too very long they were huddled in the basement of Holy Cross Lutheran Church eating a warm meal which the women of the congregation had prepared for them. Outside of the church, however, a crowd gathered with hearts and attitudes far different from those serving tables inside. Some said there were one hundred. Others estimated three hundred fifty. But the …
