After the Islamic Revolution in Iran (1979), the entire education system in the country was drastically changed to make it more relevant to the Islamic philosophy. Accordingly, since the beginning of 1982 the undergraduate accounting programmes of all universities and other higher education institutions have been conducted on the basis of a centrally designed common curriculum. From the inception, however, there has been criticism that several features of this new accounting curriculum are not appropriate in terms of the educational objectives and the socio-economic conditions of the country.

This dissertation describes a method of providing network communications at a specified Quality of Service (QoS) in an integrated multimedia environment. A Communications Resource Manager (CRM) is used to coordinate application requests with current workstation and network usage in order to maximise the QoS perceived by the user. The CRM forms part of a software architecture to service generic multimedia applications. It uses the principles of connection management to establish, coordinate and teardown multimedia connections. This study examined consumer perceptions of services for people with severe and profound intellectual disabilities in the Illawarra area. The nature and severity of the disability involved necessitated the use of family members, staff and advocates as sources of information. A total of 147 clients participated and a representative of each client (with one exception) was interviewed. They were asked to identify all services used by the client in the previous five years and to rate their level of satisfaction with these services on a 7-point Likert scale. An exciting area of research in star formation is tlie study of outflows driven by mass loss from Young Stellar Objects (YSOs). This mass loss can be as much as 10"^ MQ yr 1 with wind velocities of the order 300 km s'^. The nature of the wind that drives this Tnass loss is still uncertain. Evidence that a YSO is undergoing mass loss is provided through the effect the stellar wind has on the surrounding medium. Here is a history of our times written on an unfamiliar theme. It is a study that uses Foucault's archaeology and genealogy, as method in history, to explain three central themes. It seeks to explicate, firstly, the relationship between accounting knowledge and power. The assessment of mechanical energy expenditure (MEE) during human movement is an essential step in the determination of the proficiency of the movement. Dynamics methods of estimating MEE have their derivation in the sources of MEE , the joint forces and moments, and are less arbitrary about the rules governing energy compensation when compared with instantaneous segment energy methods. Further, dynamics methods enable the exercise scientist to attribute energy costs and savings to particular body segments, sources and mechanisms. Nikolai Aleksandrovich Rozhkov (1868-1927) was a wellknown and Influential Russian historian and political activist. He was held in great respect by his teachers, colleagues and students and was regarded by some as the most gifted disciple of Kliuchevskii, the greatest of all Russian historians. Kliuchevskii held Rozhkov in higher esteem than he did Mikhail Nikolaevich Pokrovskii, who eventually became the leading historian of the early Soviet period. The policy themes currently steering Australian higher education research practice, have given rise to an output-oriented, performance-based, quality appraisal framework that is oriented towards narrowly conceived accountability purposes. Because it is so narrowly conceived, this framework is both inadequate for quality appraisal purposes and insufficient for legitimating and rewarding research practice. The thesis argues that with this appraisal framework, both the physical and cognitive infrastructures that sustain research activity are being put at risk. Mammals are frequent visitors to flowers in some Australian plant communities. The energy rich nectar is usually considered to be the food sought, because pollen is thought to be of low digestibility. However, earlier studies have reported finding pollen grains in large quantities in the faeces of some mammals and have speculated on the potential value of pollen as a protein source for these mammals. A lack of knowledge about the strengths of adhesively bonded metallic and organic coated sheet steel has been hindering proper application of these metallic materials for practical purpose in Australia. To address this problem, first an extensive database on the initial joint strengths were compiled. Lap shear test and Width Tapered Cantilever Beam test geometries were employed for evaluating the average stress at failure and the fracture energy of adhesive joints respectively. The results of an investigation into the processes of erosion occurring in the Bungonia District of the Southern Tablelands, NSW Australia are presented in this thesis. The Bungonia District contains numerous examples of erosion gullies which have resulted from processes of tunnelling and gullying. Three erosion sites {Winston Gully, Bungonia 2 and Bungonia 3) were investigated in terms of the processes occurring and various physical and chemical soil properties. Large erosion gullies such as Winston Gully not only render agricultural land unproductive, but are suspected of contributing large quantities of sediment into the Shoalhaven River Catchment.

A neural network approach to low-level user modelling is described, in the context of text editing tasks using the Jove editor. Knowledge of a user's expertise is extracted automatically, based on their interaction with Jove over a two-week period. A multi-layered perceptron (MLP) classifier which uses rprop, or resilient backpropagation" learning and incorporate input data fuzzification is developed to classify users into one of five expertise levels. Classification into correct level is achieved in around 80% of cases, with misclassification being restricted to adjacent classes. The studies described in this thesis were aimed at unravelling the relationships between fire and arthropods. This has been investigated in a number ofstudies in the literature. Some studies reported finding fewer arthropods in burned than in unburned sites, others reported finding more, and still others found no difference. Factors that may help to explain this variety of outcomes include differences in arthropod taxa and habitat type, time since fire, and methods and duration of sampling. Cardiovascular responses of trained male Cyclists (20.30 ±1.11 years; n=10), trained Runners (26.20 ±1.10 years; n=10), and fit but untrained Controls (22.00 ±0.75 years; n=10) were examined at supine and upright rest, and during passive cycle exercise. Mean maximal aerobic power of Cyclists (76.25 ±1.44 ml.kg-1.min-1) and Runners (65.50 ±2.16 ml.kg-1.min-1 was significantly higher (p<0.05) than that of Controls (46.31 ±2.36 ml.kg -1.min-1. Resting heart rate of Cyclists (58.43 ±2.69 b.min-1), Runners (57.21 ±3.47 b.min-1, and Controls (65.38 ±2.93 b.min-1) was not significantly different (p>0.05). Impedance cardiography was used to examine the response of heart rate, stroke volume, cardiac output, contractility of the heart, and arteriolar resistance, during passive cycle exercise at three different intensities (30 rpm, 60 rpm, and 80 rpm).
