Regional scholars have broadly studied the role of economic structure in shielding a community from economic shocks. This research has generally involved comparing diversity against specialization. This study compares differences within varying degrees of economic diversity in Canadian cities. Canada has received very little attention in this field despite the importance this knowledge could provide in shaping Canadian economic policy. The COVID-19 pandemic is viewed as both an unprecedented challenge and an impetus for digital transformation. During the pandemic, a “new normal” discourse emerged predicting a surge in digitization that would radically and permanently change organizations. This paper examines how the pandemic has affected municipal governments through case studies of the City of Windsor, City of Kitchener, and City of Burlington. It compares how each city adapted to the pandemic through digitization and investigates if such changes have transformed citizen participation and governance in the cities under study. Elder abuse and neglect continues to be a gray area when it comes to convicting perpetrators such as family, friends, strangers, and caregivers who commit any form of physical, psychological, financial, neglect, or sexual abuse towards an elder. This is due to the legal definition being vague and non-transparent. The legal and health systems rely on two different definitions of what is deemed to be elder abuse and neglect in Canada when reviewing or assessing allegations of such abuse. Educational systems worldwide are facing unprecedented challenges that have arisen due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to the pandemic, many higher education institutions suspended face-to-face courses and shifted to distance teaching and learning. This major paper reviews the challenges higher education institutions faced after the COVID-19 outbreak, the necessity of implementation of virtual learning communities, and the use of Web 2.0 technologies in teaching and learning. The findings indicate the implementation of virtual learning communities in higher education can reduce the sense of isolation, encourage interactions, and build a support network during the pandemic.

This narrative inquiry will explore International Graduate Students and their online learning experiences due to the forced online setting of graduate courses caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic. The purpose of this study is to explore the experiences of international students but specifically to explore what international students defines as educative and miseducative online experience. Given that faculties of education are to be thought and experience leaders in learning contexts the experiences of international students within its graduate program offers a legitimate critique of the faculty’s ideologies, inspirations, and efforts.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented challenges and as a result, the health behaviours and stress levels of Ontarian families have been negatively impacted. The purpose of this study was to explore preschoolers’ self-regulation, parenting stress, and technology use in Ontario within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants included 11 parents of preschool-aged children who participated in interviews for the Children’s Technology and Media Use During the COVID-19 Pandemic study. Prior research, including my initial research on the mental health of children inSouthwestern Ontario, highlighted the broad, widespread impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of adults, children, and youth, globally, including the potential for social support to attenuate the harmful impact of the pandemic. Many children spend a significant amount of time using technology throughout the day. This was particularly true during the COVID-19 pandemic, as many activities that had initially been conducted in-person had to transition to an online modality. Some technology use could be seen as beneficial, whereas others could be seen as harmful.
