Since the Lynds first presented the study of Middle-town to the social science world in 1937, there has been an increasing interest in community studies. Many social scientists have presented their studies for the interested reader. The community study titles are familiar ones for the majority of the social science students. Among them are such studies as: Hollingshead's Elmstown's Youth, Warner's Yankee City Series, Redfield's The Little Community, and Lantz and McCrary's People of Coaltown.
