BACKGROUND At the 2008 inaugural meeting of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), participants discussed the rapid expansion of global health programs and the lack of standardized competencies and curricula to guide these programs. In 2013, CUGH appointed aGlobal Health Competency Subcommittee and charged this subcommittee with identifying broad global health core competencies applicable across disciplines.
OBJECTIVES The purpose of this paper is to describe the Subcommittee’s work and proposed list of interprofessional global health competencies.
METHODS After agreeing on a definition of global health to guide the Subcommittee’s work, members conducted an extensive literature review to identify …

This [article] explains the requirements under the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act’s Physician Payment Sunshine Act that all medical product manufacturers report to Health and Human Services (HHS) any payment or transfer of value made to physicians and teaching hospitals. Author Abraham Gitterman ... warns that manufacturers may face adverse consequences of public access to payment data, including fraud and abuse investigations and private litigation actions. He recommends that manufacturers begin training employees to ensure compliance with the statute and reduce the likelihood of further investigations. "A Lawyer for John Doe," explores the growing disparity between the legal services available to the upper class and the poor in the state of Maryland. The article offers four models or solutions that creatively show different ways in which middle class citizens can obtain adequate and substantive legal representation for issues that specifically concern them.

Not many policymakers or scholars can write with the authority of Gregg Bloche. Bloche is not only a law professor, but a physician, who knows his way around a hospital. Throughout The Hippocratic Myth, Bloche cements his authority in the mind of the reader by relating stories of his experience as a clinician. In each of these stories, his humane and insightful approach as psychiatrist shines through. I do not say this to imply that Bloche uses his book to brag about his own abilities.
