A Descriptive Analysis Of Porcupine Scavenging In An Experimental Forensic Context, Tamara Marie Labanowski
A Descriptive Analysis Of Porcupine Scavenging In An Experimental Forensic Context, Tamara Marie Labanowski
Honors College
Addressing the impact of scavengers is essential for a complete analysis of many forensic sites. Despite considerable research on canids and rodents on a broad taphonomic scale (Haglund 1992; Haglund et al. 1989; Haynes 1983), the North American porcupine (Erethizon dorsatum) has not been studied for its impact in forensic contexts. In order to address this research gap, I will explore the role of the porcupine in scavenging bone based on data collected during a recent experimental taphonomic study (Sorg 2013). Funded by the National Institute of Justice, this study included data from motion- and heat-sensitive cameras focused on domesticated …

University Of Maine Career Center Annual Report 2016-2017, Crisanne Kadamus Blackie
General University of Maine Publications
The Career Center has the privilege of making a difference is someone’s life everyday. We don’t always know when we make that difference but we do know that planting the seeds of change will have an impact. We often hear from students that they met us during a class presentation their first year and remembered that we could help them or that one of our counseling staff helped them to explore a new major, find an internship that changed their path or helped them to find a full-time position or graduate program that launched their career. It is our pleasure …
Medicaid And Children With Special Health Care Needs, 2016-2017 Cohort Of New Hampshire-Maine Leadership Education In Neurodevelopmental And Related Disabilities (Nh-Me Lend) Program Trainees
Medicaid And Children With Special Health Care Needs, 2016-2017 Cohort Of New Hampshire-Maine Leadership Education In Neurodevelopmental And Related Disabilities (Nh-Me Lend) Program Trainees
Policy Analysis
Medicaid funds vital services for children and youth with special health care needs and disabilities (CYSHCN). Proposed changes to the structure of Medicaid would significantly reduce federal funding for this important program. The most concerning are the proposed structural changes including per capita caps and block grants, as well as threats to Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) and Medicaid Waiver services. Restructuring would have devastating effects on benefits for low-income children and individuals with disabilities, and their families, putting this very vulnerable population at additional risk.
