Our NICU started a journey of interdisciplinary collaboration, employee education standardization, patient care standardization, and peer coaching for the patient families. Throughout our journey we have been able to decrease our length of stay from 37.6 days in 2014 to about 16 days in 2018.

This presentation will explore a model for creating a healing center within a community by describing the development, structure, and outcomes of a Healing Center called Pathways. An evaluative research project will be discussed providing evidence for the value of Pathways for participants and providers of complementary services globally.

This quasi-experimental, nonrandomized pre-/post-test study examined the impact of humanities-based teaching and learning strategies on the development of critical-thinking and clinical-reasoning skills among BSN students enrolled in a maternal/newborn nursing course. Results indicated that the humanities-based approaches significantly impact the development of clinical reasoning skills (p < .05).

The purpose of this presentation is to report the results of an IRB approved qualitative descriptive research study exploring the use of reflective journaling as a pedagogical strategy to evaluate the attainment of clinical reasoning among a targeted population of diverse RN-BSN students in a residency program at a public university in the United States.
