Conflict And Nature: How War In Cambodia Shaped Its Natural Landscape, Emily Lifs
Theses and Dissertations
Through the efforts of the Cambodian people and historians, the world is familiar with the tragic human story that unfolded over decades of war and the brutal rule of the Khmer Rouge. This thesis is an attempt to tell the equally tragic but untold story of how decades of conflict shaped the Cambodian landscape and the lives and populations of elephants and other animals.
Combatting The Illegal Pet Trade: Using Molecular Techniques To Determine The Provenience Of Illegal Ring-Tailed Lemur (Lemur Catta) Pets, Jessica Knierim
Combatting The Illegal Pet Trade: Using Molecular Techniques To Determine The Provenience Of Illegal Ring-Tailed Lemur (Lemur Catta) Pets, Jessica Knierim
Theses and Dissertations
One of the biggest threats facing the Endangered ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta) is the illegal pet trade. This study compares genotypes of 20 pet L. catta to a geographically-referenced allele frequency database of 4 wild populations (n=35) in attempt to determine their source population. This study will have many conservation implications.
Population Genetic Analysis Of The Critically Endangered Black-And-White Ruffed Lemur (Varecia Variegata) In Ranomafana National Park, Madagascar, Amanda Mancini
Theses and Dissertations
This study sought to determine the efficacy of Ranomafana National Park (RNP) in preserving genetic diversity and gene flow in black-and-white ruffed lemurs (Varecia variegata). Results indicate that RNP successfully promotes gene flow between V. variegata groups, although genetic diversity at this site is low compared to other lemur taxa.
