This senior project focused on creating a cohesive advertising campaign for Theo’s Lighters, a student-owned business that refurbishes and resells collectible lighters. The campaign included a promotional video and a branded product catalog designed to strengthen the company’s visual identity and broaden its audience. By combining photography, videography, graphic design, typography, and sound design, the project presented the products as style-oriented accessories connected to sustainability, self-expression, and contemporary campus culture. The completed campaign demonstrates the effectiveness of integrated visual storytelling while showcasing professional skills in branding, multimedia production, and user-focused design.

This senior project builds upon a previous team project completed alongside Sameeha Siraj and Michelle Kim. The original project focused on identifying user needs and developing a mobile application concept to improve the market experience. This project explores accessibility-focused print and digital design features for older audiences within the cookbook and graphic communication industries. While cookbooks are widely produced, they rarely consider the physical, visual, and ergonomic experiences of aging users. Inspired by my grandmother’s 1980s church cookbook, I researched accessible design practices and communicated my findings through an infographic and a poster, highlighting features such as minimum 12–14 point body text, warm color palettes, high-contrast layouts, clear hierarchy, increased line spacing, simplified ingredient lists, columns, and lay-flat binding. This project examines how design and marketing can improve communication for early-stage software by applying these principles to GreekMate, a candidate management tool built for student organizations. The software functioned well but lacked a strong brand identity and clear value communication. Using Diffusion of Innovation Theory and research on UX strategy, the project focused on redesigning the brand system and marketing website to make the product easier to understand and more appealing to its audience. Across U.S. history, posters have helped movements inform, persuade, and mobilize the public, going beyond information to signal identity and values. In this project, I analyze 40 historically significant American political and activist posters, from wartime propaganda to civil rights and queer liberation, to explore how visual choices shape public opinion and drive social change. I focus on elements such as community/heritage colors, typography, composition, and cultural or movement-specific motifs to see how they signal identity, guide action, and contribute to a “successful” poster.

Bai, meaning “rice” in Khmer, is a cookbook that highlights the cultural and personal significance of Cambodian comfort food. Created in response to the underrepresentation of Cambodian cuisine and the inaccessibility of traditional ingredients in towns like San Luis Obispo, this cookbook offers simple, beginner-friendly recipes that celebrate food as a bridge to heritage. Featuring original photography and thoughtful design, Bai explores how cookbooks function as both practical tools and cultural artifacts. This project contributes to the broader dialogue on inclusive, culturally responsive design and the role of graphic communication in preserving and sharing marginalized culinary traditions.

This project aimed to improve the process of transporting 10,000-pound industrial waste bins. The current method for relocating these bins poses safety risks and requires significant manual effort. This project presents a conceptual solution that enables a single operator to efficiently and safely move roll-off bins using a custom-designed trailer system. The design incorporates three main subsystems: a trailer frame, an integrated winch system, and an off-the-market puller device to guide and secure the bin during transport. Two scaled proof-of-concept prototypes were fabricated to evaluate key aspects of the system's functionality. Testing and analysis suggested that the system is viable …

This thesis presents an approach to understanding and enhancing the robustness of aerospace systems through the integration of network analysis, Design Structure Matrix (DSM), Singular Value Decomposition (SVD), and robustness simulation techniques. This methodology called the Importance Hierarchy method, provides a comprehensive framework for decomposing the interactions of aerospace systems, focusing on identifying and evaluating critical components and interactions.

Dis/ability is consistently disregarded as a central social identity, as the world has been literally built and maintained by (temporarily) able-bodied people with the intent to accommodate able-bodied people’s needs and comfort.
