An Analysis Of Hybrid/Remote Work Eligibility In Academic Librarian Job Advertisements, Ruth S. Connell, Meris Mandernach Longmeier Jul 2025

An Analysis Of Hybrid/Remote Work Eligibility In Academic Librarian Job Advertisements, Ruth S. Connell, Meris Mandernach Longmeier

Library Faculty Publications

This paper seeks to capture changing policies and approaches to hybrid and remote work in academic libraries following the COVID-19 pandemic. For this study, job advertisements were gathered and those hiring managers surveyed. Results show hybrid/remote positions have competitive salaries, many types of academic library positions have hybrid eligibility, and campus and library policies regarding hybrid/remote work and their inclusion in job postings continue to evolve. Despite the potential recruitment benefits of these flexible work arrangements, many who offer them are not including this information in their job advertisements; therefore, job candidates should ask or negotiate for this benefit.

Gen Y More Black Corporate Directors, Chaz Brooks Jan 2025

Gen Y More Black Corporate Directors, Chaz Brooks

Articles in Law Reviews & Other Academic Journals

Corporate diversity has been in the spotlight for decades. Recent efforts have followed years of legal scholarship, arguments on the business rationale for greater diversity, and more recently, the racial unrest during the summer of 2020. Called by some, a “racial reckoning,” the summer of 2020 catalyzed many corporate declarations on the importance of diversity, and more to the point of this article, the necessity of righting the economic disadvantages of Black Americans. This article looks specifically at one intervention by a corporate player following summer 2020, Nasdaq’s volley to increase corporate diversity through required disclosure. This article reviews the …

Leadership Potential And Self-Perceived Employability Of Undergraduate Students In The United Arab Emirates, Aizhan Shomotova, Tatiana Karabchuk, Ali Ibrahim Dec 2024

Leadership Potential And Self-Perceived Employability Of Undergraduate Students In The United Arab Emirates, Aizhan Shomotova, Tatiana Karabchuk, Ali Ibrahim

All Works

One of the main challenges facing higher education institutions (HEIs) is developing students’ employability skills, such as leadership. The earlier students acquire leadership skills, the higher their self-perceived employability (SPE) is upon graduation. Understanding how leadership is associated with SPE can help HEIs provide better leadership development programmes to increase SPE so that students pursue sustainable employment after graduation and use their leadership skills successfully in the workplace. Currently, there is a scarcity of published research on how youth leadership potential (LP) impacts SPE among undergraduate students at HEIs in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Arab region in …

Not So Cavalier: Technical Study And Conservation Treatment Of A Potential 17th Century Anglo-Dutch Military Portrait Painting, Josephine Ren

Art Conservation Master's Projects

A potential 17th century Anglo-Dutch military portrait painting from the Memorial Art Gallery at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York arrived at the Garman Art Conservation Department at Buffalo State University for conservation research and treatment in 2022. The painting’s title, date, and artist were unknown and the subject was initially referred to as a “17th Century Dutch Cavalier.” Little information existed on the provenance and history of the artwork. The painting was in a state of structural instability and aesthetic disfigurement and showed evidence of a past restoration campaign. This master’s project attempted to broadly …

Accelerating The Circular Economy Transition: A Construction Value Chain-Structured Portfolio Of Strategies And Implementation Insights, Radwa Eissa, Islam H. El-Adaway

Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

Despite the Increasing Recognition of the Potential of Circular Economy (CE) Strategies, their Effective Application to Decarbonize the Construction Value Chain Faces Multiple Challenges. Ambiguity Surrounding CE, stemming from a Lack of Clarity on Actionable Strategies, is a Common Concern. Existing Studies Lack a Holistic Approach for Systematically Integrating CE Principles throughout the Construction Value Chain, resulting in a Scarcity of Information on How to Practically Adopt CE within Projects. This Research Aims to Accelerate CE Adoption by Creating a Value Chain-Structured Portfolio of CE Strategies and Analyzing the Implementation of Such Strategies in Actual Projects. to This End, a …

Social, Civic, And Institutional Trust: Necessary Conditions For A Pluralistic Democracy, Bruce L. Mallory Jul 2024

Social, Civic, And Institutional Trust: Necessary Conditions For A Pluralistic Democracy, Bruce L. Mallory

The Carsey School of Public Policy at the Scholars' Repository

In this perspectives brief, author Bruce Mallory discusses how trust in social, civic, and institutional structures is a necessary ingredient for a healthy democratic society. Erosion of trust in democratic societies has negative effects for individuals, communities, and public participation in political and civic matters. Data from surveys of New Hampshire residents as well as national samples over the past decade show declining levels of trust in social and political institutions. This has been exacerbated in recent years by the global pandemic as well as increasingly stark political and social divisions.

Drawing on resources such as the 2020 New Hampshire …

Utilization Of Mental Health Services At Domestic Violence Agencies In Pennsylvania, Kealsey Mcneil

Social Work Student Research

In this research, I examined the use of mental health services at domestic violence (DV) programs in rural and urban Pennsylvania and agency size. I examined the needs, characteristics, and availability of mental health services for DV survivors across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. I looked at DV service use from a variety of sources to provide a well-rounded understanding of the factors that contributed to mental health service use. I used three secondary data sources: the Lethality Assessment Program (LAP), Adequacies of Network of Services Provided to the Survivors of Domestic Violence in Pennsylvania–Phase II study, and data obtained from …

Perceived Context Typicality And Beliefs In The Generalizability Of Management Research Findings, Przemyslaw Hensel, Adam Tatarynowicz Jul 2024

Perceived Context Typicality And Beliefs In The Generalizability Of Management Research Findings, Przemyslaw Hensel, Adam Tatarynowicz

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

Despite growing calls for a greater internationalization of management research, the discipline still struggles with the challenge of integrating diverse national contexts. While recent decades have seen a change toward a more equitable treatment of all national contexts, the belief that research conducted outside the United States is less generalizable remains strong. In this research note, we explore the general perceptions of what is considered a “typical” study context by associating them with authors' variable tendencies to report threats to external validity. Using a sample of 400 papers from seven top-tier management journals, we find that research based on non-US …
