Research and educational efforts related to space engineering or requiring access to space face significant startup costs. The cost of developing a 1-U (10 cm × 10 cm × 11 cm) CubeSat from scratch can be approximately $250,000. Those buying a kit must pay amortized vendor development costs on a per-mission basis, creating a lower per-mission barrier. Kit users are also constrained by being unable to make changes to vendor subsystems without incurring substantial redevelopment costs or vendor charges. Legal scholarship has been silent about a phenomenon with profound implications for governance: the automation of compliance with laws mandating risk management. Regulations—from bank capitalization rules, to Sarbanes—Oxley's provisions on financial fraud and misrepresentation, to laws governing information-privacy protection—frequently require regulated firms to develop internal processes to identify, assess, and mitigate risk. To comply, firms have turned wholesale to technology systems and computational analytics that measure and predict corporate risk levels and “force” decisions accordingly. Objective: To explore healthcare professionals’ views about the benefits and challenges of using information technology (IT) resources for educating patients about their warfarin therapy. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of both community and hospital-based healthcare professionals (e.g., doctors, pharmacists and nurses) involved using a purpose-designed questionnaire. The questionnaires were distributed using a multi-modal approach to maximise response rates. Results: Of the total 300 questionnaires distributed, 109 completed surveys were received (43.3% response rate). Over half (53.2%) of the healthcare participants were aged between 40-59 years, the majority (59.5%) of whom were female. Fifty nine (54.1%) participants reported having had no access …

BIOTEX is an EU funded project aiming to develop such sensors with a particular interest in monitoring perspiration. Twenty-first century literacies imply multiliteracies – going beyond language literacy and numeracy to, among others, information, visual, media and technological literacies. An education that develops capabilities across a range of literacies equips young people with the skills necessary to participate in a complex, globalized workplace and community. A key step toward realizing such national and state education agendas is specific curriculum interventions that are translated to the classroom level. Tort liability, however, is not ready for the introduction of autonomous vehicles, and, thus, liability will not be assessed to the party that is responsible for the accident.
