Phytochemical studies carried out on the leaves of Rytigynia canthioides (Benth.) Robyns with regard to the content of organic and mineral substances and the presence of active principles have given satisfactory results. Our results revealed that Rytigynia canthioides contain proteins, lipids, sugar and polyphenols with the contents varying from 0.09 % to 20.75 %. The calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and sodium contents are respectively equal to 4.08 % ; 6.57 % ; 3.88 % ; 0.6%. Only traces of iron and zinc are identified. Models of the incubation period of anthrax are important to public health planners because they can be used to predict the delay before outbreaks are detected, the size of an outbreak and the duration of time that persons should remain on antibiotics to prevent disease. The difficulty is that there is little direct data about the incubation period in humans. The objective of this paper is to develop and apply models for the incubation period of anthrax. Molecular mechanisms that control inner ear morphogenesis from the placode to the three-dimensional functional organ are not well understood. We hypothesize that cell-cell adhesion, mediated by cadherin molecules, contributes significantly to various stages of inner ear formation. Cadherin-2 (Cdh2) function during otic vesicle morphogenesis was investigated by examining morpholino antisense oligonucleotide knockdown and glass onion (glo) ( Cdh2 mutant) zebrafish embryos. Placode formation, vesicle cavitation and specification occurred normally, but morphogenesis of the otic vesicle was affected by Cdh2 deficiency: semicircular canals were reduced or absent. Mean residual life function, or life expectancy, is an important function to characterize distribution of residual life. The proportional mean residual life model by Oakes and Dasu (1990) is a regression tool to study the association between life expectancy and its associated covariates. Although semiparametric inference procedures have been proposed in the literature, the accuracy of such procedures may be low when the censoring proportion is relatively large. In this paper, the semiparametric inference procedures are studied with an empirical likelihood ratio method. An empirical likelihood confidence region is constructed for the regression parameters. Samuel Danforth’s poems from the Almanacks for 1647–1649 are some of the earliest examples of “secular” poetry published in New England. Danforth (1626–1674) was a fellow of Harvard College and an astronomer and mathematician as well as a poet. Although these were not the first almanacs printed in America (the first was by William Peirce, printed at Cambridge in 1639), they are the earliest surviving examples. It focuses primarily on Peace Corps volunteers—how they become involved with library development, what practices they instigate to promote the library’s collection, and how they create sustainability for the library. All of these elements combine, in my thesis, to show the “professional” nature of an overseas librarian. In this paper, we consider a market that is operated by a non-integrated monopoly upstream that owns an important essential facility and an duopolistic market downstream that is facing entry in the monopolistic upstream market. We show that: (i) for small fixed costs of building a new facility the unique equilibrium entails vertical integration for all firms and duplication of essential facilities; (ii) for an intermediate range, the unique equilibrium entails full vertical integration and a shared-facility; and (iii) for large fixed costs, the unique equilibrium entails vertical integration by the incumbent, no integration by the entrant and a shared-facility. …
