Mirroring Society’S Struggles Storytelling At The European Court Of Justice, Fernanda G. Nicola May 2025

Mirroring Society’S Struggles Storytelling At The European Court Of Justice, Fernanda G. Nicola

Popular Media

The Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU) stands as a central institution in the European legal and political landscape. Its judgments not only shape the trajectory of European integration but also reveal deeper EU Law Stories – ideological clashes, conflicting narratives and distributive consequences with the subtle emergence of winners and losers in each case. Yet, these dimensions often remain hidden behind the opaque language of the increasingly lengthy rulings and traditional doctrinal analysis.

Uconn-Ilcc Nmc/Gr Battery Aging Dataset, Benjamin Nowacki, Thomas Schmitt, Phillip Aquino, Chao Hu Feb 2025

Uconn-Ilcc Nmc/Gr Battery Aging Dataset, Benjamin Nowacki, Thomas Schmitt, Phillip Aquino, Chao Hu

REIL Datasets

This dataset encompasses 44 Panasonic UR18650AA cells cycled under 11 unique conditions until an end-of-life of 65% remaining capacity. Cycling tests were performed under ambient conditions (~22 degrees Celsius) and were interrupted approximately every 3.5 days (~100 cycles, depending on the charge rate, discharge rate, and depth of discharge) to perform a reference performance test (RPT). During the RPT, the cell’s remaining capacity is measured, and 100-second-long, 1C constant-current pulses are conducted at nine states of charge (SOC): 10%, 20%, …, and 90%. The cycling and RPT data are sampled at 1Hz and span over 35 weeks of testing. Additional …

REIL Datasets

This dataset encompasses 64 LithiumWerks APR18650M1B cells cycled under 11 unique conditions until they reached their end-of-life at 80% remaining capacity. Cycling tests were interrupted approximately every 3.5 days (~100 cycles, depending on the conditions) to perform a reference performance test (RPT). During the RPT, the cell’s current capacity is measured, and several 100-second-long CC pulses are recorded at three states of charge. The cycling and RPT data are sampled at 1Hz and span over 38 weeks of testing.

The short-duration pulses are shown to have a high correlation with the cell’s state of health, with implementation details provided in …

Need For An Ethical Framework On Usage Of Generative Ai In The Legal Realm, Arul George Scaria, Vidya Subramanian

Excerpt: "Generative AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT and Bing Chat, is one of the most remarkable advancements in the line of language processing applications. With an estimated user base of 100 million just two months after it was first launched, ChatGPT is also one of the most quickly adopted innovations in history. The alluring feature of generating detailed text outputs with nothing but a prompt or a gentle nudge in the form of a short text input has invited appreciation and provoked fear in equal measure."

On Decolonization: Scattered Speculations On The Indian University, Atreyee Majumder

Universities are like good headphones, the noise-cancelling ones that consistently drown out the turbulent world outside its boundary walls. Universities have taught me to read, think, argue, imagine, and most importantly, write. Universities have also been sites of disappointment, disillusionment, and agony. Universities have also consistently generated employment, horizons of aspiration, a growing collection of books and bookshelves, varied range of intellectual friends and collaborators and nemeses among the dead and the living, and finally, an entry point to a cosmopolitan, bourgeois life for me. The university is now a space that I consider home. In this essay, I will …

Demand Side Reform In The Poor People's Court, Jessica K. Steinberg Jan 2015

Demand Side Reform In The Poor People's Court, Jessica K. Steinberg

Connecticut Law Review

A crisis in civil justice has seized the lowest rungs of state court where the great majority of American justice is meted out. Nineteen million civil cases are filed each year in the so-called "poor people's court, " and seventy to ninety-eight percent of those matters involve an unrepresented litigant who is typically low-income and often a member of a vulnerable population. This Article challenges the predominant scholarly view in favor of "supply side" remedies for improving access to justice-that is, remedies focused exclusively on supplying counsel to litigants, either through adoption of "civil Gideon, " a universal civil right …

More Than Best Friends: Expansion Of Global Law Firms Into The Indian Legal Market, Chris Vena Jan 2011

More Than Best Friends: Expansion Of Global Law Firms Into The Indian Legal Market, Chris Vena

Northwestern Journal of International Law & Business

Over the past half century, there has been an accelerating trend towards liberalization in the legal services industry. International free trade agreements have sought to promote open markets for legal services. The United States, United Kingdom, many European countries, Australia, Japan, Russia, China, and Singapore have all opened their legal markets to foreign law firms. India is something of an anomaly in this regard. Although it has one of the world's largest economies and has benefited greatly from liberalization in many industries, India's legal industry remains closed. Competition for foreign capital with other developing nations, particularly China, makes this an …

Pioneering practitioners have found dramatic new ways to communicate and collaborate with clients and other lawyers, produce documents, settle disputes, interact with courts, and manage legal knowledge. There are exciting initiatives underway now that deserve attention by all lawyers – present and future. The legal profession is being disrupted from without and from within. To be successful in the coming era, lawyers will need to know how to practice over the Web, manage client relationships in cyberspace, and offer “unbundled” services. This program discusses the knowledge …
