This study utilises mathematical modelling and computations to analyse the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) effects on non-Newtonian Eyring-Powell fluid flow in an inclined non-uniform channel under long-wavelength, low Reynolds number conditions. The governing equations are solved by applying slip boundary conditions to determine the velocity, temperature, concentration, and streamline profiles. The key findings show that the magnetic parameter dampens the flow rate. The relationship between the variable viscosity, velocity, and temperature is nonlinear. The wall rigidity parameter and axial velocity are directly proportional until a threshold. Increasing inclination angles distorts streamlines. The magnetic field alters concentration contours and thermal transport. MATLAB parametric …

Background: Drowning is a leading cause of injury-related mortality globally. Unintentional drowning (International Classification of Diseases (ICD) 10 codes W65-74 and ICD9 E910) is one of the 30 mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive causes of injury-related mortality in the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study. This study's objective is to describe unintentional drowning using GBD estimates from 1990 to 2017. Methods: Unintentional drowning from GBD 2017 was estimated for cause-specific mortality and years of life lost (YLLs), age, sex, country, region, Socio-demographic Index (SDI) quintile, and trends from 1990 to 2017. GBD 2017 used standard GBD methods for estimating mortality …

Outdoor recreation, as the intersection between physical exercise and nature, provides a multitude of psychological and physiological benefits to human well-being. Though many studies have reported qualitative stress reduction from outdoor recreation, few have focused on quantitative measurements of stress across recreational activity types, intrapersonal differences, and environmental variables. To determine whether outdoor recreation affects physiology, we collected 190 paired salivary cortisol and testosterone samples and 157 surveys from 88 hikers, 81 mountain bikers, and 44 off-highway vehicle (OHV) motorists. After recreation, cortisol concentrations were significantly reduced in hikers and OHV motorists, but cortisol and testosterone concentrations increased in mountain …
The Effects Of Passive, Active, And Beta-Alanine Supplemented Recovery On Blood Lactate During Anaerobic Exercise, Tracey Hampshire
The Effects Of Passive, Active, And Beta-Alanine Supplemented Recovery On Blood Lactate During Anaerobic Exercise, Tracey Hampshire
Kinesiology Student Research - Archive
INTRODUCTION: It is widely shown through experimentation and knowledge of human physiology that an active recovery following high-intensity exercise removes lactic acid (BLa) more quickly than passive recovery. Some research suggests that Beta-Alanine (BA) supplementation can decrease BLa levels following supramaximal exercise. PURPOSE: The purpose of this research was to assess whether passive, active, or Beta-Alanine supplemented recovery is more effective at lowering blood lactate accumulation following supramaximal anaerobic exercise. METHODS: Five male (M, 21.2 ±1.48 yrs, 178.25 ±6.36 cm, 85.59 ±10.30 kg) and three female subjects (F, 22 ±1.73 yrs, 164.23 ±1.50 cm, 70.9 ±12.56 kgs) at UTA volunteered …

Verbum Incarnatum: An Academic Journal of Social Justice
In matters of health and culture, For some, uncertainty is the motor of life; For others, anything only is because it is explainable; Not just any explanations, but those that are “data-based.” Still for some individuals, phenomena can be both certain and uncertain. For this third class, “believables” are found in-between what is and what can be. Subjectivity and context may be primordial in many things HUMAN, but Equity in opportunities and access to social goods and services, Dignity for all human beings under every circumstance, and Respect for self and others at all times, are even much more basic. …
