‘I’Ve Always Been On Call For My Sister’: An Exploration Of The Impact Of Having A Sibling With A Life Limiting Condition On The Experience Of Education, Emily Joanne Pinn

Plymouth Interdisciplinary Education Open Journal

There are currently approximately 99,000 babies, children and young people living with life-limiting conditions (LLCs) in the UK alone (Together for Short Lives, 2025b). Many of these young people will have siblings who are navigating the opportunities and challenges of having a sibling with an LLC. Despite this, there is a stark lack of research investigating the impact of being one of these siblings. As a result, this combined autoethnographic and qualitative enquiry will aim to provide an insight into how young people’s experiences of being a young carer to a sibling with an LLC impacted different elements of their …

High School Dropout Rates Among Latin Students In The United States, Taryn T. Marriott Jan 2026

High School Dropout Rates Among Latin Students In The United States, Taryn T. Marriott

Student Works

An ongoing concern of educators and community members is the disproportionately high amounts of Latinx students dropping out of high school in the United States. Although there has been notable research done and action taken, the problem still remains. Lack of familial support, discrimination, and residence in low-income areas all contribute to the low retention rates of Latinx youth on track to graduate high school. As a result, youth who do not complete their education and set their sights on career goals have a harder time with employment, communicating in their society, and tend to show higher levels of engagement …

Chapter 6'S Interview Checklist § 6.15, Anthony G. Amsterdam, Randy A. Hertz Jan 2026

Chapter 6'S Interview Checklist § 6.15, Anthony G. Amsterdam, Randy A. Hertz

Trial Manual for the Defense of Criminal Cases

The following checklist covers most of what the lawyer will have to learn from a client in order to develop an effective defense at all stages of a criminal case from first contact through trial. It models a thorough interviewing process; more than a single interview will ordinarily be needed to gather all of the information it includes. When the charge is relatively minor, less extensive fact-gathering may be adequate. But counsel will do well to assume at the outset that all of the subjects flagged by this checklist need to be on the agenda; decisions to curtail coverage should …

Chapter 4'S Bail Questionnaire § 4.5, Anthony G. Amsterdam, Randy A. Hertz

Trial Manual for the Defense of Criminal Cases

The following questionnaire is designed principally for counsel’s use in obtaining from a client information pertinent to the amount of bail that should be set. Counsel can, however, easily convert the questionnaire into a form that can be notarized and submitted to a magistrate or judge in support of an application for bail in a manageable amount or for reduction of bail or for release on nominal bail or on recognizance, as is appropriate. Of course, caution must be observed not to use the form in this fashion if a client’s answers may supply incriminating information or investigative leads that …

" Who Am I Here?" Exploring The Racial Identity Development Of Chinese Adolescent International Students In Canada: A Constructivist Grounded Theory Approach, Wen Juan Song

Theses and Dissertations (Comprehensive)

Abstract

This dissertation explores the racial identity development and associated mental health challenges of Chinese Adolescent International Students (CAIS) in Canada, a population navigating complex intersections of race, age, migration, and belonging. Despite their growing presence in Canadian secondary education, CAIS remain understudied in both educational and mental health research, particularly in relation to racial identity development within Western, multicultural societies. Using a Constructivist Grounded Theory methodology, this study draws on in-depth interviews with twenty-five CAIS participants, including ten current high school students, three returnees to China, and twelve who remained abroad in post-secondary education or employment.  The study is …

Review On Law On Protection From Environmental Noise And Its Implementation In Kosovo, Elsa Buzhala, Eli Binxhija, Egzon Bajraktari

UBT International Conference

Despite its significant impact on public health and quality of life, noise pollution remains one of the least addressed forms of environmental degradation in Kosovo. This study aims to critically analyze the existing legal framework for environmental noise protection, with particular focus on Law No. 02/L-102, and to assess its practical implementation in the urban context of Kosovo. By employing an integrated methodological approach—including documentary analysis of domestic and European legislation, direct noise level measurements in selected urban areas, and interviews with citizens and institutional representatives—the study identifies a range of shortcomings in both the design and enforcement of noise …

A Pre- And Post-Pandemic Analysis Of The Reading College Readiness Of Texas Hispanic Boys By Their Economic Status, Sa’Myra K. A. Bradford, John R. Slate

School Leadership Review

In this multiyear study, we addressed the relationship of economic status (i.e., Economically Disadvantaged, Not Economically Disadvantaged) to the reading college readiness skills of Texas Hispanic high school boys. Texas statewide data on the state-mandated English I End-of-Course exam were obtained for two years pre-pandemic and the last four years post-pandemic. The three grade level standards on the STAAR English I End-of-Course exam (i.e., Approaches Grade Level, Meets Grade Level, and Masters Grade Level) were analyzed by economic status. Inferential statistical analyses revealed that lower percentages of Hispanic boys who were economically disadvantaged met the Approaches Grade Level, Meets Grade …

The Impact Of Online Vs. In-Person Classes On College Students' Social Functioning And Well-Being: A Pilot Study, Aron Levin, Irwin Levin, J. Charlene Davis, C. Edward Heath

AMTP Proceedings 2025

This paper examines the relationship between undergraduate college students’ mix of online and in-person classes on their well-being and mental health. We first examine the research on consumer well-being and Quality of Social Functioning and then apply these streams of research to our pilot study, an online survey. In our pilot study, we find some statistical differences in students’ well-being, depending on whether they take predominantly in-person or online classes. Students who take about one half of their classes online are more satisfied with their academic performance than those who take all or mostly in-person classes. Those who take all …

Future Cities: Exploring Circularity For Sustainable Urban Cities, Benjamin Moral Mar 2025

Future Cities: Exploring Circularity For Sustainable Urban Cities, Benjamin Moral

Architecture and Planning Journal (APJ)

In an era marked by rapid urbanization, the imperative of sustainability looms large for future cities. The growing global urban population portends increased resource demand, environmental stress, and socio-economic challenges, compelling a shift towards circularity. Circular principles, aimed at minimizing waste and optimizing resource use, embody a regenerative vision for urban spaces. While this concept gains traction worldwide, comprehensive studies simplifying its application are scarce. This research examines and diagnoses how Circularity can revolutionize urban sustainability, with objectives to evaluate circular economy models and analyses case studies and benefits. Employing an exploratory research design, this study drew data from secondary …
