Our team has explored the use of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) technologies to develop a concept of operations for data collection during a Wildlife Hazard Assessment. Data have been collected in a farmland area located two nautical miles south of Daytona Beach International Airport (Class C Airspace). The research team has applied and assessed the effectiveness of several Safety Risk Management protocols designed to ensure safe UAS operations during a WHA. Policymakers, educators, and employers have argued that higher education should play a pivotal role in shaping the professions of tomorrow as the traditional workforce evolves into an increasingly entrepreneurial, innovative, and global workspace (Srinivasan et al., 2022). From their perspective, an entrepreneurial approach to learning can prepare students for occupational uncertainties, unique professional opportunities, and organizational fluidity (Hua et al, 2022; Salem, 2014). Innovation is a concept that pervades academic libraries’ teaching and learning. We talk innovation, we discuss innovation, we create job descriptions and confer titles with innovation in them, and we find that almost anything we do in the field is about innovation. However, professional literature contradicts our perception. SCVNGR is a game-based geolocation application where users can earn points or gain rewards by completing challenges and treks. Builders design questions that involve text based answers (open ended or multiple choice), QR codes, or photo challenges. Librarians at Boise State University and Oregon State University have built treks and challenges using SCVNGR for library orientations and instruction. They have found SCVNGR a better environment than Foursquare for these purposes. With SCVNGR, students can participate in the challenges and treks using not only their smart phones and mobile devices, but also via text-messaging and laptops. Libraries face shrinking budgets, increased use, and user demand for trending resources. This makes it difficult for librarians to find the time to keep up with innovative technological tools and social media (SM) developments.
