The Bemis Park Crime Survey was devised to give the residents of Bemis Park systematic information on the extent of crime and victimization in their neighborhood. The Bemis Park Neighborhood Association requested this survey, and the residents were active participants in it.

Pottawattamie County, Iowa (Map 1) has been unable to maintain the growth experienced during the decade from 1950 to 1960. The 1980 Census showed a count of 86,500, a loss of 491 or .6 percent from the 1970 Census. (See Table 1.)

Businesswomen In Small Town Nebraska, Rebecca S. Fahrlander, David Sharon, Kathleen Sullivan
Publications
Social and economic changes during the past two decades have contributed to a substantial increase in the number of women participating in the American work force. The women's movement, for example, has increased the social acceptability of married women working outside the home and has raised single and married women's professional expectations and opportunities. From an economic perspective, inflation has probably motivated more married women to seek employment, and, at least until the past few years, the American economy has been healthy enough to provide jobs for most of them.

With the demand for state and local government services increasing at a rate greater than most present tax structures can accommodate, either additional resources must be shifted from the private to the public sector, or public services must be adjusted within tax revenue expectations.
