Voices From The Field: Preparing Teachers For High Need Schools, Tabitha Dell'angelo

The Qualitative Report

It is generally accepted that many new teachers leave the profession within just a few years. The numbers of leavers increase in historically underperforming and under resources schools. This study examines a group of new teachers from a phenomenological perspective. Their experiences are presented through ethno-drama as a way to interact with the data and learn from the experiences of these teachers.

The Qualitative Report

The purpose of this article is to “chat” about my experience using Eurocentric theories in racial and culturally centered qualitative inquiry. The challenge I face is that I believe researchers can use Eurocentric theories to conceptualize ‘appropriate’ frameworks to conduct rigorous culturally responsible and sensitive research that contributes to existing scholarly dialogue and empirical literature on culturally sensitive designs in the field of qualitative research.
