The purpose of this thesis is to provide a study of the early Church educational program in Southeastern Utah, especially the Emery County area. This study is to trace the growth and development of one aspect of this program from 1889 to 1922, and to lend special emphasis to the founding and location of the Emery Stake Academy, the buildings and their development, the growth of the curriculum, the enrollment, the activities, and the influence of the Academy upon the area.

PROBLEM: Millions of children read and view the Caldecott Winners each year There are no published studies regarding the possible stereo-typing of the role of the human, animal and inanimate female image in the texts and illustrations of these 37 books.
Purpose: The. investigation ·was conducted to determine the extent the total population of the Caldecott books did stereo-type the role of the human, animal and inanimate female image.

The research group was also anxious to take on this study because it was just following the first welfare worker’s strike in California. This had occurred at the agency in question and provided a situation in which the team would receive maximum cooperation. Approach of the study: The present report is divided into five chapters. Chapter II begins by considering the literature of bilingualism which has been written during this decade in sociological, linguistic, and psychological fields. The task undertaken in this thesis is to make comparisons between the objectives of education as set forth by the National Education Association and the conclusions regarding public education which were reached by the research workers in eight community social research studies.
Briefly, the norms adopted for this thesis are the "objectives of education in democracy" as formulated by the Educational Policies Commission of the National Education Association. These objectives are (1) self-realization, (2) improved human relationships, (3) economical efficiency, and (4) Civic Responsibility.
