Validation Of The Geant4 Bremsstrahlung Models: First Results, S Chauvie, S Guatelli, B Mascialino, L Pandola, M G. Pia, P Rodrigues, A Trindade

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

A project is in progress for a systematic, rigorous validation of Geant4 electromagnetic physics. This paper presents the first results concerning the validation of Geant4 bremsstrahlung models against experimental data.

Models Of Biological Effects Of Radiation In The Geant4 Toolkit, S Chauvie, Z Francis, S Guatelli, S Incerti, G Montarou, P Nieminen, M G. Pia Jan 2006

Models Of Biological Effects Of Radiation In The Geant4 Toolkit, S Chauvie, Z Francis, S Guatelli, S Incerti, G Montarou, P Nieminen, M G. Pia

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

A project, named Geant4-DNA, is in progress to extend the Geant4 simulation toolkit to model the effects of radiation with biological systems at cellular and DNA level. The first component implemented in the first development cycle of the project describes the fractional survival of a population of cells irradiated with photons or charged particles. The software system developed provides the user the option to choose among a small set of alternative models for the calculation of mammalian cell survival after irradiation. The flexible design adopted makes the system open to further extension to implement other cell survival models available in …

Validation Of Geant4 Electromagnetic And Hadronic Models Against Proton Data, G A. P Cirrone, G Cuttone, F Di Rosa, S Guatelli, B Mascialino, M G. Pia, G Russo Jan 2006

Validation Of Geant4 Electromagnetic And Hadronic Models Against Proton Data, G A. P Cirrone, G Cuttone, F Di Rosa, S Guatelli, B Mascialino, M G. Pia, G Russo

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

A comprehensive, rigorous validation of Geant4 electromagnetic and hadronic models pertinent to the simulation of the proton Bragg peak in water is presented. Geant4 simulation results are validated against high precision experimental data taken in the CATANA hadrontherapy facility.

A New Theory And Measure Of Ethical Work Climate: The Psychological Process Model (Ppm) And The Ethical Climate Index (Eci), Anke Arnaud Jan 2006

A New Theory And Measure Of Ethical Work Climate: The Psychological Process Model (Ppm) And The Ethical Climate Index (Eci), Anke Arnaud

Management, Marketing and Operations - Daytona Beach

With this dissertation I developed a new theory and measure of ethical work climate (EWC). Currently, there exists one dominant theory and measure of EWC developed by Victor and Cullen (1988, 1987). Even though researchers have identified problems with this theory, such as inconsistencies with regard to its limited theoretical scope and troubling psychometric properties, it is the most widely utilized framework for conceptualizing and testing EWC. Therefore, I propose to develop an improved theory and measure of EWC, one capable of addressing some of the principle shortcomings of earlier efforts. Building on Rest’s (1986, 1979) “Four-Component” model of individual-level …

Testing For Structural Breaks In The Korean Economy 1980-2005: An Application Of The Innovational Outlier And Additive Outlier Models, Charles Harvie, Mosayeb Pahlavani Jan 2006

Testing For Structural Breaks In The Korean Economy 1980-2005: An Application Of The Innovational Outlier And Additive Outlier Models, Charles Harvie, Mosayeb Pahlavani

Faculty of Commerce - Papers (Archive)

This paper employs quarterly time series data to endogenously determine the timing of structural breaks for various macroeconomic variables in the Korean economy. The Innovational Outlier (IO) as well as Additive Outlier models (Perron, 1997) are then used to test for non-stationarity of the Korean macroeconomic data. After accounting for the single most significant structural break the results from the (AO) model clearly indicate that the null o f a unit root cannot be rejected for all of the series under investigation. This finding is consistent with our finding based on the conventional unit root test. However, by applying the …

Gaussian Message Passing On Linear Models: An Update, Hans-Andrea Loeliger, Junli Hu, Sascha Korl, Qinghua Guo, Li Ping Jan 2006

Gaussian Message Passing On Linear Models: An Update, Hans-Andrea Loeliger, Junli Hu, Sascha Korl, Qinghua Guo, Li Ping

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

This semi-tutorial paper considers message passing algorithms on factor graphs of linear Gaussian models. Freshly polished tables of message computation rules are given and their use is demonstrated for soft-in soft-out equalization.

The Critical Factors Of Coaching Practice Leading To Successful Coaching Outcomes, Margaret K. Marshall Jan 2006

The Critical Factors Of Coaching Practice Leading To Successful Coaching Outcomes, Margaret K. Marshall

Antioch University Dissertations & Theses

The purpose of this study was to identify the critical aspects in coaching outcomes as perceived by experienced coaches in the United States in both business and life coaching settings. Nineteen coaches provided a total of 109 critical incidents that led the client to the coaching process. Six dimensions of coaching emerged from the coding process; personal philosophies of coaching, coach functions, the coaching process, breakdown and success factors, precipitating factors and outcomes of coaching. A model was constructed to depict the relationship of the dimensions to one another. The personal philosophy of the coach influenced every other dimension. The …
