The project involved the excavation of the area around the collapsed portion of the sewer lateral and the replacement of the damaged line. The project was located within the eastern right-of-way (ROW) of Upland Drive, between Jarbet Drive and Leonidas Drive in east San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. In September and October of 2008, the Center for Archaeological Research carried out archaeological testing of Miraflores Park located on Hildebrand Ave between the San Antonio River and the AT&T parking lot. A total of 122 shovel tests were excavated within the project area on a modified 10 x 10 m grid. In addition to the shovel tests, four 50 x 50 cm units and one 50 x 100 cm test unit were excavated to gain more information of certain areas. Starting in October of 2008, the Center for Archaeological Research carried out a 100 percent archaeological survey of the proposed Northeast Lakeview College campus in the City of Live Oak in northeast Bexar County, Texas. A total of 102 shovel tests were excavated within the project area. Site 41BX15 was revisited to determine the condition of the site. The Center for Archaeological Research (CAR) at the University of Texas at San Antonio performed archeological testing at the Pavo Real site (41BX52) between November 2006 and June 2007 for HNTB. The purpose of archeological testing was to determine the depth of construction fill and the presence, location and, if possible, condition, of any remnant archeological deposits. Proposed improvements along Loop 1604 include bridge bents that will be constructed east of Leon Creek and west of the IH-10/Loop 1604 interchange overpass. Recent construction at Santa Rosa Hospital in downtown San Antonio resulted in the unexpected discovery of two sets of human skeletal remains. Archaeologists from the Center for Archaeological Research (CAR) at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) were contracted to exhume and analyze these remains and determine if they represented historic period burials. Excavation and identification of a “toe-pincher” style coffin and its associated hardware, the recovery of personal items associated with the first set of skeletal remains, and archival research aided in the determination that this set of remains was buried in the mid-1800s. Phase n of archaeological investigations at Milam Park in downtown San Antonio, Texas, were conducted by staff members from the Center for Archaeological Research (CAR) of The University of Texas at San Antonio. This project consisted of shovel tests and monitoring of all excavations connected with construction and renovation activities at the park. Shovel tests were dug prior to ground alterations to assess the amount of recent fill dirt covering the historic surface of the park.

Excavations at site 41 BX 1, located behind the Olmos Dam in San Antonio, Texas, were funded by the San Antonio River Authority. The excavations resulted in the documentation of a Late Archaic cemetery and Early to Late Transitional Archaic occupations. Thirteen human burials, accompanied by a variety of grave offerings, including deer antlers and marine shell ornaments, were radiocarbon dated 1680 B.C. (maximum date) to A.D. 260 (minimum date). In addition, two distinct occupational areas, horizontally separated from the cemetery, were investigated.

In conjunction with the excavations, final resource management negotiations resulted in mitigation measures of avoidance and protection …
